...or understaffed air traffic control where controllers have to do 2 jobs at once. Then you have a helicopter pilot who was not following ATC instructions.
Nepotism(hiring unqualified friends and family) is far more rampant and way more destructive than DEI policies ever could be. DEI policies may help unqualified people gain low level positions, but with nepotism it's usually high level positions.
Ah, right, of course the FAA is plopping unqualified people down in air traffic controller chairs to fulfill diversity goals, just like fits with Don's delusions. Except that isn't happening, ATC's have to undergo a rigorous physical and mental health check. There are plenty of other jobs in the FAA that this policy applies to.
History is unkind to Nero, who was really not that bad in comparison to a shitload of emperors that came before and since. I'm not saying Nero was good, I'm saying his reputation of being one of the worst isn't even close. I hope history is as unkind to Trump.
Yup that is how this presidency will be explained.
America had the potential to be the greatest country in the world, but it just always remains out of reach, and that fucker you have in charge will irreparable do even more damage.
I feel sorry for what you (not you in particular) voted for (or what was stolen by the tech bros).
As an autistic person (and no, we don't throw Nazi Salutes as stimming...) I honest to fucking god am so numbed by this guy's bullshit that it is kinda incredible.
All I could think of is how the mentally disabled were the first victims of the holocaust in WW2. Starting in 1939 around the time of the invasion of Poland.
The accident is 100% on Elon Musk and Trump. They fired the FAA safety officials and never replaced them, in addition to cutting massive amounts of funding and personnel that made an accident like this inevitable.
Trump announced sweeping personnel changes, including a hiring freeze. But aviation experts said Trump had done little that could have precipitated the crash between a commercial jet from Wichita, Kansas, and a military Black Hawk helicopter. There was simply too little time – less than 10 days after Trump was sworn in – for any of his broadly worded executive orders to have had an effect, experts said.
It's mind boggling anyone would even try to dismantle the FAA- they're one of the most boring organizations out there and their #1 concern is safety. There's even tons of money to be made while worrying about safety, so it is so odd to do this. Trying to reduce air traffic controllers is an insane idea in general- without them everyone's flying blind. It's gonna take decades to figure out all the damage this moron has done just like with Reagan
And it's one of the most useful government offices if you're a billionaire who travels by plane everywhere. Plebs who have to drive everywhere are a lot less affected by overworked, overstressed, underpaid ATCs than guys like him.
If you dont have a net worth that's 6 figures minimum, or come from a nice family with a background of being an american "patriot" or otherwise having come from a not-shithole country. then you're a useless eater.
I agree that it is the fault of people with severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems, or other mental and physical conditions...namely Donald J. Trump and Elon Musk both of whom are donkey-brained narcissists that have untold amounts of health problems including ketamine addiction, incontinence, HGH chest, and anhedonia.
And once again, Trump controlled the conversation, and all the actual evidence is out there window for most people.
It would be awesome if there was an unspoken “don’t feed the troll” understanding among journalists, influencers, mods, forum commenters, everyone. When Trump says something outrageously stupid, just… briefly acknowledge it, and then ignore it and proceed as usual. Like he doesn’t exist.
That’s a narcissist’s worst fear.
Sure, he'd bounce around in the conservative echo chamber, but at least he wouldn’t pull more people in.
I seems like any time any post is made about anything Trump says, someone has to tell us all that it's a distraction from what's really going on.
As if Trump is even capable of that level of deception. Yes, Trump lies all the time... to get his way when he isn't getting it. Notice how he wasn't lying about the fascism.
At the very least it’s another fact that will join him down into history. It’s not enough that he’s the worst president ever, we can tank his stats so no one ever comes close
Amazes me that after the initial COVID response and just his entire public life, that anyone seems surprised that Trump is not the kind of person that should be making speeches about somber and serious subjects.
Let alone be in charge of the response to them, but that ship has sailed.
Maybe the intellectual disabilities, but the blame list included people with dwarfism.
I'd like him to tell that directly to Peter Dinklage, because I have no doubt that he could kick Trump's ass. And probably take out half the secret service on the way.
Next time AF1 goes for a jaunt to pedo-island, the air traffic controllers that trump is insulting have an opportunity to become really American heroes...
Trump yet again lies by making up rambling story about imaginary people causing an airliner crash before the dead bodies have gone cold
Airplane crashes a lot of times are very complicated with a lot of important factors leading up to the crash. This, combined with usually complete carnage and destruction, makes it that typical investigations take weeks, months, sometimes years.
Even if trump had been able to form a coherent message about the cause of this crash it would have been bullshit because never in the history of aviation did we know for certain what the cause of a crash was within 16 hours of a crash. It's. That. Simple.
Then again, this is trump, and no investigation will be made because this will become the official reason, the end
Trump yet again lies by making up rambling story about imaginary people
You could have said the same thing about the eating dogs and cats diatribe.
He's lampshading the next groups he's going to round up. I bet there's going to be an expansion of mental health intake and transfers of the "criminal" insane to the new camps that are getting opened up.
"If they keep the details quiet [of the recent closed-door meeting], you'll be able to tell what they're going after [in the budget] by listening to their rhetoric".
"They'll start scapegoating a demographic, to try and prime the [voter] base to accept their cuts."
(e.g.) "If they start talking about able-bodied people, it's Medicaid."
There is a good chance this was caused in large part by Trump and his enshitification efforts. Right now the entire federal workforce is demoralized by various actions of Traitorapist Trump, degrading the quality of government across all levels. Air traffic controllers are part of the federal workforce. They were also short staffed, which in itself was likely cause by the poor morale. Blaming the hiring of minorities makes no sense given that a big part of the problem was not enough staff.
Trump knows this and knows that other people will make that connection too, and so him blaming this on DEI was his way of deflect the blame away from his rapid enshitification of government.
You mean it's another of those trans illegal immigrants that escaped from an asylum that worked in an airport control tower in between all the pillaging and raping? It's crazy, how many are there of those anyway?
That might indicate that he recently was informed that he has dementia and that it's incurable.
Or maybe he wants all his political opponents and critics declared insane so he can have them tortured with outdated treatments like lobotomies and endless rounds of ECT.
PAT25(?) announced that they have a visual on the CRJ. ATC instructed them to maintain visual separation and then proceed behind the CRJ. They didn’t. No maydays, no panpans.
It’s pilot deviation or pilot error.
What would you be interested in with the black box? If the TAWS warned the CRJ pilots?
TCAS doesn't give resolution advisories (alerts that say to climb or descend to avoid traffic) below 1000'. It does have a warning noise still, but from my understanding it's common for it to go off on approach due to all the other aircraft around and on the ground at the airport, so it may have been ignored.
I only said month because even when he wasn't president yet, they were already making moves like he was. But you are correct it's ONLY been 10 fucking days.
Think of all the covid deaths, place responsibility where it belongs, right in his lap. 1000 deaths on average per week, I don't have the long covid disabilities numbers 'off the top of my head', but they are even more.
As much as Trump is absolutely terrible, Biden was equally responsible for the large number of COVID deaths. His administration made the CDC completely abandon masking, ventilation, and other preventative guidance, almost completely abandon or hide COVID statistics, and he also said that the pandemic was "over". Credit both of them, a pair of terrible presidents.
I don't even know how you factor in other travesties. Like letting all those J6 criminals out of prison. One of them already had to be put down by a cop during a traffic stop. How do you factor that, when the safest option was to keep them in prison?
Trump loves to blame people for things they have no direct control over, like blaming Boden for the cost of eggs, while taking credit for anything positive that happens while he is in office that had nothing to do with him.
I assumed OP was mocking that attitude, but could be wrong.
The Buck Stops With Trump. You have no idea what directives Pete Hegseth gave the Pentagon which effected the orders, maintenance, or operation of the BlackHawk Helicopter which flew into the plane killing everyone. When incompetence is put in charge, things break, sometimes slowly, sometimes immediately, and when you purposefully throw a monkey wrench into the internal operations of state organs, people die. And now people have died, on Donald Trump's watch. The Buck Stops With Him as it has with all other Presidents before him.
That's some stupid fucking horseshit. It would be nearly impossible to fire a large part of an organization without a noticeable effect. Here we have fatal evidence of that. Yeah people assume you're coming in bad faith because how could we not?
Oh, now I remember. His press conferences during the first time were like rallies, just blurting random shower thoughts out.
…If the Dems had just advertised his first term conferences verbatim, no extra context, no picking and choosing, just shown them, they would have easily won.
The people who paid no attention to his press conferences, tweets, and actions during his first term are not people who were paying any attention to Democratic messaging.
