Trump backs out of debate as camp says it's 'inappropriate to schedule things with Harris'
  • Ensconced in spinning a version of reality most favorable to them, narcissists tend to lie and misrepresent so readily that they become convinced that whatever they utter in the moment is true and right.

I think this also convinces them that everyone else is lying too, but I can't remember if I got that from a trustworthy source or if I'm just convincing myself because it sounds true.

  • Hey, are you accusing me of being a bad person because I run a Mormon parenting vlog while my kids are malnourished and escaping and running for help?!

I'm not Ruby Franke or Jodi Hildebrandt. I don't know why you'd think that. Stop asking.

  • Secret DEA files show agents joked about rape in a WhatsApp chat. Then one of them was accused of it
  • About 3 a.m., the woman said, police and an ambulance arrived and found her bruised around the wrists and Zoumberos very drunk. She told AP she locked herself in the bathroom before fleeing the hotel through the fire exit in a state of utter shock.

    Fucking unbelievable. Sadly believable.

What's the latest stuff you've bought that you almost instantly regretted buying?
  • Alternative firmware is what I should have said. It's been a couple of months and I only spent maybe an hour on it, but OpenWRT or whatever the hell else is what I tried (don't recall all details). Browser certs and too little RAM is what got in the way, I think. I just don't care enough to make that work when I can spend a few bucks to replace it after so many years of awesome service. Too bad the new ones are garbage.

  • Stupid example, bigger problem. How to overcome this?
  • This. I’m constantly tweaking things to make them more and more of what I desire. But also the comment about waiting and checking back after a period of time sounds pretty good.

Worst case: find someone you can talk to about it.

What are wheelchair-bound people to do when a building alarm disables elevators?

We had a false alarm go off in the building where I work last week. The elevators automatically shut down forcing the use of the fire escapes. The building is 22 floors. I was lucky in that I’d just taken the elevator to the first floor to step outside on a break. When they finally let us back in, I wondered what someone with mobility issues is expected to do had the building been on fire. Just die? Have a kind soul carry them? With most people wfh at least a couple of days per week, this seems really dangerous for anyone who might get stranded.

ACLU suspects warrantless surveillance in neo-Nazi’s prosecution

I hate that groups like the ACLU have to defend nazi scum to protect my liberties. Better that the government not violate our rights in the first place, but in lieu of that, even nazi scum is subject to the same rights and due process as any other citizen. However, I wouldn’t mind if they got pantsed a couple of times by their lawyers.
