Time magazine called the ex-president’s plans ‘an imperial presidency that would reshape America and its role in the world’
Donald Trump has warned that Joe Biden and his family could face multiple criminal prosecutions once he leaves office unless the US supreme court awards Trump immunity in his own legal battles with the criminal justice system.
In a sweeping interview with Time magazine, Trump painted a startling picture of his second term, from how he would wield the justice department to hinting he may let states monitor pregnant women to enforce abortion laws.
Trump made the threat against the Biden family in an interview with Eric Cortellessa of Time, in which he shared the outlines of what the magazine called “an imperial presidency that would reshape America and its role in the world”.
But it's important that the stuff he says gets documented. If for no other reason than if it all goes downhill, the alien anthropologists can figure out what the hell happened after we exterminate ourselves.
The implication, well one of many, is that the President is the one charging Trump with these crimes. He's being charged for state crimes, by the various states AGs, in accordance to their laws. He's also being sued civilly by people he's defrauded, sexually assaulted, or defamed.
The current president and current administration has had no input in any of this.
The federal cases he has stem from his "mishandling" of classified documents after he was out of office. This case is being handled by a special prosecutor who is insulated from the executive and bound by laws, procedure, legal ethics, etc to act independently from the administration.
So, at the end of the day it's just more absolute horse shit from Trump and more evidence he should never be on the ballot.
You can disapprove of the actions but supporting an allied nation with money or weapon sales is squarely a presidential act, nobody thinks presidents should personally be held criminally liable for their presidential duties.
It's different now though. He didn't have the power to lock her up. This time around, he'll have Project 2025 behind him to allow him to do things like that.
The guy literally tried to overturn an election he lost. It wouldn't surprise me if it's just bluster, but at the same time it also wouldn't surprise me that he is trying to become a tyrant.
Accurately reporting what trump said is a scare tactic by democrats, now? You don't think it might have anything whatsoever to do with what trump said?
Prosecute the Bidens on what grounds? The GOP have been investigating them for a few years now and have admitted they can't find anything, other than Hunter's tax evasion or whatever it was.
He's full of shit and just says whatever the fuck no matter how stupid it is because he loves the uneducated and his followers are certainly that. They believe anything from anyone with an R in front of their name.
I don't think he understands or really believes that there are impartial laws. He thinks when he's being prosecuted it's just personal bullshit targeted at him, so he can do the same to anyone.
Because he's always weaponized the courts to slap people opposed to him and doesn't understand 90% of his business empire is based on illicit activities. The first dollar he ever made wasn't even obtained legally because his father put one month old donny down as a landlord so he'd get income at a lower tax rate. 70+ years later he's still shitting in diapers and having people smarter than him find loopholes and schemes to hide how he puts more money in his pocket.
Just like Hilary it's all hot air to rile up his base. Thry bad, I can prove. Except I can't prove it cause there isn't any evidence and my supposed witness has no credibility or ever been in the same room.
Hilary did do a crime kinda. Based on the advice of a Repub telling her to have a private instead of government mail server. Then she complied with investigations and ultimately the government declined to prosecute because it was such a nothing issue.
In stark fucking contrast is Donald literally stealing classified documents, storing them in a run-down hotel next to a copy machine that anyone can access, refusing to comply with instructions to return them, lying about everything...
Sorry, not disagreeing at all. It is hot air to rile up the base. And it does rile up the base because they are doublethink clowns.
That's a common way of thinking in people with little to no ethics. They think everyone else is the same, and thus if you dig you're surely going to find something.
If Isreal is found guilty of genocide and they will, Bidens roll would be considered aiding in said genocide and would be guilty under international law.
It's crazy that this is even a political talking point. I support Biden in this election but I very much want him prosecuted if they have clear evidence of a serious crime he committed.
I love how Trump doesn't even understand that it isn't Biden attacking him, it's the justice department doing its job of getting criminals convicted. Barking up the wrong tree, dipshit.
So... Trump wants immunity in order NOT to go to Jail, but if he doesn't and goes to jail, how will he prosecute Biden? Also, if he gets immunity and somehow becomes president, how is he going to prosecute Biden if Biden also has immunity?
The mental gymnastics he sells his followers would almost qualify as an Olympic event.
I keep trying to get people to understand that he's not smart, he's just loud and rich... possibly not even both, and if not both, definitely just loud.
Unfortunately, you don't really need to address all Americans. It really comes down to the entirely rational people of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania
North Carolina here, I'm praying for our state to go Blue again, we used to be purple leaning blue, then after Obama we leaned more and more red... and the older folks around here made it no secret that it was indeed about his skintone
Everyone knows these guys are just going to lie their way into the presidency right? As in just get fox news to declare early, then stand over election officials to call it their way.
It really is a concerning situation that is going to turn November+ into a nightmare. Hopefully, we see an article about tRump being found dead as a headline if the SCOTUS slobs up the asinine defense of total immunity. That's the only way I think this can resolve without a constitutional disaster. He's basically daring someone to do something and I, for one, hope the "find out" part comes for him.
Convicted Sex Offender Treason Trump once ordered Bill Barr to prosecute Hillary Clinton. Barr refused because there was no grounds to prosecute. And Barr didn't necessarily refuse because it was the wrong thing to do, he knew that it wouldn't go anywhere because you cannot prosecute anybody without a legitimate reason. The judge would have thrown out the case, and no grand jury would have voted to proceed.
I meant preemptively. If Trump is threatening to prosecute him and he has his appointed judges on his side, then they can try some shit. But if Biden, for whatever reason that I don't think will happen, says that he has pardoned himself and his family, then all that goes away. So then Trump can point to Biden and say, "see? he did it and he's not guilty! I'm doing it and I'm not guilty!" Which is a bit of a fever dream but it'd be some sort of strategy to cleanse his name in the eyes of the public while staining Biden's. That was my line of thought, not that I think Biden is guilty of crimes.
Moreover, tRump claims if he didn't have total immunity from all crimes, it would prevent a president from doing their job for fear of prosection under the next guy. It's like, my dude there's been over 200-years of Presidents who didn't need that immunity and weren't indicated after term.
For being the "most patriotic," their supporters don't know dick about this country's Constitution after the 2nd, and only if they can cherry-pick the parts they like, just like the Bible.
Where and when exactly did Biden commit genocide? I mean the president is far from perfect and a LOT of his actions can be criticized (just as many of his actions should be applauded) but I fail to see where he committed genocide.
Sure he didn't commit genocide himself by picking up a gun and shooting people, but he's given unconditional support for israel and shielded them countless times from the UN by vetoing every time they tried to pass a resolution for a ceasefire. Let's take the latest aid package where he sent israel funding for weapons (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/20/us/politics/bidens-funds-israel-ukraine.html)
