Fold your phone in to a paper plane to enter airplane mode. It won't stop you from receiving calls, but it will look badass when your $2000 Samsung phone makes it several feet down the cul-de-sac
Damn, I misunderstood. I thought the airplane fold was just to increase the aerodynamics when you need to throw your on-fucking-fire phone because Samsung somehow found a way to hold the distinction of designing the first phone banned on flights across the globe due to catching on fucking fire. Imagine how cool that burning airplane (phone/firework hybrid) looks though!
Continues to baffle me that Samsung did their damnedest to go out of business with making all sorts of shit catch on fire for a few years and everyone went "meh, it's shiny tho"
People who see phone as a tool to get things done, tools should be strong and can withstand wear and tear
People who see phone as prized possession, they don't mind spending extra effort to ensure phone is treated nicely.
In my experience people who love folding phones have habit of taking care of their phones that no one is sitting on it on the couch, that keys are not in the same pocket as phone, etc etc
Then there are people like me who don't want to bother with taking care of a phone. And we hate folding phones. I like that sometimes my phone is on bed and I am sleeping I don't have to worry about what if i roll onto my phone in my sleep. I know my phone will live.
I had a folding phone back in the day. I think they're called feature phones now. I preferred it over my Nokia because it was harder to accidentally call someone or make weird noises.
For those with Samsung folds (4,5,6) that want a solid phone case that has the ability to just barely stick on a magsafe sticker, look here. I'm in Taiwan but you guys can probably find it in America somewhere. It's a Korean brand.
I have dropped my phone from a moving motorcycle going 45mph and the phone was not damaged. I have used this brand case for 3 Fold generations.
The link goes to a Taiwan's ebay equivalent. No affiliate link. Just wanted to share my experience with a amazing case.
Edit: sorry link wasn't working.
Here is an image of it. I'll also try and find it on Amazon for the US folks.
I did, multiple times, sooo many times in all manner of price points, sizes, brands and even OSs (I've got fucking Windows tablets WITH cellular FFS just chilling in archive). Do you know what happened to them? They started collecting dust within a couple weeks
I don't want to carry multiple devices, even when I do want to I can never get the habit to stick, so I never have the tablet when I need it the most
My foldy phone solves that issue immediately, it's a phone when I need a phone and a tablet when I need a tablet.
Having a separate device for me, that I don't use all the time, is never going to stick, even if it is pocket sized. I always have my phone on me because I always use it, and now it can become a tablet when I need it too
I don't know why people bother to buy foldable phones, if you want bigger screen just buy tablet....smh...
Tablet has bigger screen plus it's cheaper than buying foldable phones

I tried a pixel 9 fold for a little while, it was neat but way overpriced for the novelty, and there are no cases worth a damn that aren't attached entirely by glue strips. Returned it and got a pixel 9 XL instead.
If they can make one with the same width/height as the XL (big hands, too many typos on the small screen keyboard), for under 1500, id probably go for it
I don't use a foldable phone... But you can't put a tablet into your pocket. It's meant to be the dimensions of a phone, just much thicker, so it fits into your pocket, while letting you fold it out to have double the screen size. For all the issues they have, that's a very reasonable and somewhat appealing feature.
I guess you have to try one. I got a samsung fold 3, i loved it. Then, when my contract ended, i got a fold 6. I would have a hard time going back to a standard phone tbh.
My wife said she wouldnt get a folding phone but when i got my fold 6 i offered her my fold 3. She ended up really liking it and wants to get a newer fold when her contract ends.
So theres me, who knew i wanted one and am happy with it to the point where i cant go back. And my wife, who didnt want one but after trying one for a few weeks, said she got it now and would be upgrading to a newer fold when the time comes.
They need to get these in peoples hands if they want to sell them better.
If I want a bigger screen, I'm reaching for a laptop or desktop, not a phone with a self-destructing screen. I expect my gear to last at least 5 years, preferably 10.
It did decently for a while, then better competitors came to the scene that didn't make the asinine decision to make it ridiculously skinny and ol Sammy refuses to change course on that so sales have been falling
tablet screen size is okay, but really the people who want bigger screens should be buying tvs. not to mention they have the advantage of being cheaper than tablets. but even tv screens can only get so big. a really cost effective way to get a big screen would just be to go to a movie theater. that’s like 10 dollars(?) for 2 hours of access to a huge screen.
Because electronics in general, including TV, PC and regular phones, aren't associated with slave labour lmao
Also, good job on combating climate change and ecosystem trashing by not buying one device, but four of them!
Imagine I want to read an epub or do some gaming, or watch a show while commuting. Do you suggest that I bring all my devices with me on the bus instead of just the foldable phone?
