I'm just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.

I'm learning Japanese so sometimes I might write something out in romaji just to practice. Please correct it if it's wrong!

that's it that's the whole show

  • Lemmings of Lemmy who came over from Reddit what do you miss about Reddit and what do you not miss?
  • My immediate thought is that I miss the discussions for a specific game in that game's subreddit, but then I remember how many stupid takes and ass-backward ideas people had and think there is nothing about Reddit that I truly miss that I can't get here on Lemmy.

    Protip: Swords suck against stone.

One of the things I absolutely love in these games is that you can pretty much guess what an enemy's weaknesses are by looking at them. Dude made of fire? Use ice. Dude made of ice? Use fire. Dude made of flesh? Use bleed.

Most people seem to understand this, but there's one other thing in these that I constantly see people having difficulty with and that is dudes made of rock or metal. Your swords, axes and spears won't really do much to these guys. But they do have a weakness: blunt weapons (IE Strike damage). The only stone guys in the game that don't really seem to follow this are the new Forge Golems, which have their own special weak point.

Things made of stone or metal include:

    • Imps
    • Gravebirds
    • Radagon
    • Every type of golem
    • Iron Balls
    • Every type of Marionette
    • Divine Beasts (not easy to tell by visuals; but in the lore, the humans underneath are called "sculpted keepers" and if you look carefully, they have the same kind of stone-grey skin as other rock monsters)
    • Crystellians (these guys are actually used as a tutorial for the advantages of Strike weaponry!)
    • Iron Virgins (although their insides are still fleshy, so you can just bait them to open up and use slash or piercing weapons effectively too)
    • Falling Star Beasts
    • Graven Masses

And in addition to these: Skeletons or anything visibly showing bone (which is pretty much all undead/Those Who Live in Death as well as Astels). But they are also super weak to Holy damage.

So if you find yourself struggling against any of these types of enemies, just switch to a hammer of some kind for that encounter. Especially the grave birds in the Shadow Realm; strike damage makes these things not even a threat as even the smallest strike weapons keep them completely stun-locked.

    RL60 multiplayer is weird...

When I am a Gold or Blue, the Host is an absolute noob and dies to falling off an easy jump. If I invade, the host is a god among men all the way at the end game of the DLC using the Taunter's Tongue all alone and actually is good at PvP.

Should I shave or let it grow?

If I shave it could be trouble... But if it grows it could be double (in length). But also double trouble because I'd probably need some beard wax or something to keep it good. It's lookin' scraggly.

Smithscript weapons do practically no damage at their maximum range.

I was stoked for these things, especially the spear so I don't have to waste FP with Spectral Lance (and I can make it any affinity), but I am noticing that if you hit something at the furthest range they will go, they do fuck all in damage. They do normal damage if you're still in melee range, but if I wanted to use them in melee range, I wouldn't give two shits about them being thrown weapons. đŸ˜Ŧ

How do you guys use the Group Password system? I make mine themed to fit my character build. This is my Faith guy.

So I died to Renalla in the second phase and it spawned me inside her first phase room instead of back at the site of grace.

If only I had Mogh's trident so I could take advantage of the fact the AI hasn't activated and just nuke her. đŸ˜ĸ

They missed a huge opportunity for a PvP boss fight.

Spoilers ahead for real; if you haven't gotten to the end of the DLC be warned.

The fight against Leda and her allies vs you and yours was the coolest fight IMO. However, I am disappointed in it just because they didn't make it like the Mirror Knight or Half-Light. Instead of just the NPCs, it would have been gnarly to get actual players in there.

It really annoys me because, you can have a big PvP melee with the group fights in the arena... But even the day they added those arenas, the queue for those matches is always seemingly empty. I have never been able to actually get into anything but duels.

The AI being AI, it's not a particularly challenging fight. But man if they were real players, instead, it would have been an adrenaline rush.

Can't find the locked spiritspring cairnes? Use a shackle.

Just like you can use them to reveal illusory walls and kill chariots, Margit and Mogh's shackles can be used to unlock the locked spiritsprings.

If anyone else has been tearing their hair out looking for some of these things, this oughta help.

The Shadow Realm is, in fact, still inside the Lands Between.

So we all thought that this island of clouds was the possible location for the DLC up until it was shown to be in a "different" realm, however...

    !

The Shadow Realm appears to be at the exact center of TLB. Meaning that, even though the main map wasn't changed to reflect it, these lands are probably located under that shroud of clouds, obscured by magic.

Is the world really empty or is it just that way because video game?

I never really noticed or thought about this before but there's quite a bit of stuff in the DLC that has me questioning whether or not the game itself matches the lore in the sense that there are plenty of people who are alive and well (Melina's line when urging you not to seek the Flame of Frenzy also states that life still flourishes and that births still happen), they're just not shown in game because Fromsoft doesn't think they can do bustling, living cities well.

What do you think? Are the few NPCs we meet all that's left in the world or are they just representative of a larger picture we don't see due to the fact it's a game?

    Game minimizes when being summoned?

With the new update and DLC, I've noticed every time I get the being summoned message, the game will minimize. Like.... Every time. Anyone else getting this or am I uniquely being annoyed?

How does a $3.99 canned food item come out to $4.45 in California?

There's no sales tax on unprepared food in this state (I'm also paying by EBT with food stamps) and the CRV for the can is only $0.05. where the fuck is the other 41 cents coming from? đŸ˜Ŧ
