Sanders: Supreme Court Is “Out of Control” and Must Be Reformed
  • I made that argument too. Something tells me there was something else about Bernie she didn't like. But she was a "lifelong democrat" and "didn't have a problem" with socialism, so... anyone's guess! /s

  • PC gamers are finally embracing the controller, as usage triples [increase to 15% from 5% over the last six years]
  • BG3 has an entirely different interface when using controller. I'm not a fan of the radial menus, but it's not really an issue with the controller.

  • Will Linux’s New run0 Command Run sudo Out of Town?
  • This. One thing Linux is about is personal freedom.

  • I was in Texas for my first time ever and had my first ever Yeungling (it isn't available where I live). I didn't know it was now the choice for the bigots. But I do know: it's really not a great beer.

Neither is Bud (/Light), but at least that doesn't taste like a malty homebrew.

  • AMD Frame Generation On The Steam Deck Is Here With FSR 3.1
  • "Better supported" is an understatement. AMD on Linux requires no handling of drivers whatsoever, so far as the user is concerned.

  • The same way you remove your shit without water

  • The need for year-over-year growth is ultimately strangling the system. At the moment it is easy to lay a bunch of people off and claim that growth. Eventually (at some point in the future), it won't be mathematically possible unless the C-suite starts taking pay cuts, or they at least start eschewing their crazy bonuses. Expect them to milk that for good press ("These forward-thinking CEOs are dumping the bonuses for... insert any random bullshit here!") or other such marketing nonsense.

Eventually, it will stop, when the system no longer functions at all. Infinite year-over-year growth across the board is an impossibility.

  • Sanders: Supreme Court Is “Out of Control” and Must Be Reformed
  • I remember arguing with my boomer parents about Sanders when he was winning primaries. I shit you not, my mother looked me dead in the eye and said: "Bernie is too old. We need Biden."

    I'll definitely never forget that.

  • I've been playing from the couch for a few years now.

I've got a DS4 and DualSense which I use via Bluetooth for games with support. Most times I'll have Xbox controller icons, but I don't care about that.

I have a Steam Controller that I use for most things that don't have support, especially strategy games. That right pad is a beautiful mouse replacement. It's also fantastic for couch flight simming since you can use the grip buttons to change action sets.

Of course I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, but I find myself using them for gaming very, very rarely.

  • Japan declares victory in effort to end government use of floppy disks
  • I can't remember where, but I think I've seen that spun as a security benefit (probably facetiously). Simply because few people can access floppies anymore, especially 5 1/4". And there's probably like 20 people with 8 inch floppy drives.

Edit: oops... There is literally a comment in this thread saying the very same.

  • Maybe now they can switch to the magneto-optical disks like in Mission: Impossible.

  • Republicans want to put pigs back in tiny cages. Again.
  • I'd say it's more about following the money. Most of Republican politics are actually about padding the pockets of those already rich. The crazy part is the culture war they also run to keep some of the poorest on their side.

  • Out of everything, I really want to see my helmet in first person

I know a lot of people hate this kind of feature, but there are significant reasons why I think it would make Starfield better.

If I'm not wearing one and I leave my ship, I start taking damage if the planet is dangerous. The only way around that is to be in 3rd person while in the ship (aside from the workaround below). There isn't any indication anywhere as to whether or not you are in a spacesuit, besides your menu and 3rd person view. There is no way to know while maintaining immersion.

Bethesda's workaround is to auto-hide spacesuits and helmets in atmo. This sucks, because I personally like tailoring the look of my character to the environment. But more importantly, I want to know that I am wearing a pressure suit if I'm out in a dangerous environment. I don't want it to feel like I'm a freecam wandering around -- I want to feel like I'm slogging along in a freaking spacesuit.

What's really strange is: if you put on the broken Constellation helmet, you can see the tape piece from the inside. It has an overlay! Sadly this works for no other helmet. Did they just abandon making the textures?

A similar annoyance with a related system: the quick menu does not unequip items. This would make it super easy to change between a spacesuit and regular outfit and not deal with more menus.

I figure there will be a mod at least for helmet overlays eventually, but damn is it frustrating that they definitely thought about it and only implemented it for a piece of masking tape.
