Pet Allowance
Pet Allowance
sad sad mommy @noahsarca
i love the quebec pet allowances they are so silly it's like a riddle
Number of pets allowed
Usual limits
A total of 8 pets are allowed (among the allowed species), including the maximum permissible for dogs and cats.
Up to 4 pets are allowed, including a maximum of 3 dogs.
Examples:
- You can have 4 rabbits, 3 dogs and 1 cat.
- You can't have 4 frogs and 4 dogs.
dogs ≤ 3
cats + dogs ≤ 4
others + cats + dogs ≤ 8
others ∈ Allowed Species109 0 ReplyLol this helped me understand the text, thanks.
Does an aquarium of fish count as one pet, or does every individual fish count?26 0 ReplyIt depends on whether you have MERGED the fish

Also, fish do not count towards this limit.
22 0 ReplyTwo cats, a dog, and sixteen full grown swordfish

Not sure if
cats + dogs ≤ 4
I read It asnot dogs ≤ 4
I guess that your ruleset comes from the mention of
including the maximum for cats and dogs
and maybe those are the only ones that are calledpets
but 🤔20 0 ReplyYeah, I'm very confused by the "8 pets are allowed" and "4 pets are allowed", it reads to me like "You can have 8 pets as long as you have at most 4 pets" which obviously makes no sense.

...right?

So I can have 12 cats if I have -8 dogs?
11 0 ReplyIt's quite heavily implied the above is only defined in ℕ

In Germany my colleague has to send a photo of his turtle every year to some gov/municipal agency, to track it’s growth and prove that is not an exotic/illegall type (which could only be seen when they get bigger)

3 huskies, 4 wolves and a rooster.. wake up bitches..... awooooohhhooooo..
51 0 ReplyI've cross-bred eight different dogs with various species of fox, so they all count independently.
Also, jesus christ the smell.
17 0 ReplyA fox pooped in my yard the other day and fuck that I don't want him back.
8 0 ReplyIs that possible? I've heard of coydogs, coywolves, and wolf/dog hybrids, but haven't heard of fox hybrids...

Trade one of the wolves for a bloodhound and you can get some real harmony going.
7 1 ReplyBut then you'd have 4 dogs, 3 wolves and a rooster, and that's against the rules.
What you need is 2 huskies, a bloodhound, 2 wolves, a kakapo, a howler monkey, and a rooster. For best results, duct tape your kakapo to your monkey.

3 0 ReplySame genus, different species.

Makes sense to limit how many you can have, so you can't have ridiculous number of cats or dogs in a small space. But it gets complicated with smaller animals and since they all have different space requirements.
35 0 ReplyYou may have up to seventy kilograms of dependent biomass under your care.
17 0 Reply... So my neighbor's Akita is too big to legally own.
Edit: actually it's just barely within it, but some mastiffs can absolutely weigh more than that.

Does seem silly to say someone can have 3 dogs and 4 cats but can't have 9 frogs/snakes/birds
9 0 Reply"I have an ant farm with like 986 ants."

What about 5 frogs 2 dogs and a cat?
28 0 ReplyNot allowed. You can have a maximum of 4 items of given pet type, 3 for dogs. You will have to give one frog away.
38 1 ReplyWhat's the value of 3 frogs in cats?
10 0 Replyno mention of horses, pigs, spiders or other inverts, so are those banned or not? seems like someone in admin really hated pets
8 0 Replywhat if I trade one of the frogs for an alpaca?
5 0 ReplyDamn. Can't move there with my cassowary.

You have one cat. It gives birth to a litter of four. What do?
16 0 ReplyBelieve it or not, jail.
31 0 ReplyWhen a dog, cat or rabbit gives birth, the puppy, kitten or kit may be kept without a license for a maximum of three months.
23 0 ReplyYou have to get licenses for your pets? Wtf?

Get you stomping boot.
7 1 ReplyVery inefficient. Surely there's a market for a better option?

I just want to know who in their right mind would want to have 4 Rabbits, 3 dogs, and a cat all in one house
13 0 ReplyI have a friend with three kids. They had at one point 3 rabbits, 2 dogs and a cat. They don’t live on a farm, but they do have a large property (countryside).
When I was in college I had a classmate who was living with 5 roommates in a large house and had 8 cats amongst them. No idea if it was legal then or if the landlord even knew.
7 0 ReplyAh, I was imagining affordable living conditions of 1-3 bedroom apartment

It's like saying, if you can't figure this out, you aren't worth the one extra dog you have, please give it away.
