The Onion should pivot to actual news, since traditional media has embraced lies and absurdity.

4 0 ReplyI want a mix of the two, satire and real life, and you can't tell them apart. Basically merging TheOnion and NotTheOnion.
2 0 ReplyI saw a recent article that'd be great for their first

Reminds me of /r/animetitties from the Reddit days.
40 0 Replynot as good as it used to be, still the best news sub on that shit site.
8 0 Replywhat was the story with that?
6 0 ReplyI don't recall exactly but this is the gist that I remember from a /r/subredditdrama post I read over a year ago
"Real news" sub reddits let porn, nsfw content, onlyfans and whatnot on them because they were not actively or thoroughly moderated. Some users were upset,To emphasize their point started posting nsfw anime pictures.
Someone decided they had enough and broke off into their own sub reddit that has actual news and it was called /r/animetitties or something.

Even in the current form it's more substantial than the fox news.

They should have a section "not the onion"
36 0 ReplyWhile I like this I fear it’s too costly. Good journalism is pricey. And good comedy is pricey. I don’t know how well those two fields overlap. But I know I’ve seen good combos with Jon Stewart and Jon Oliver. So it’s for sure a possibility. I’d pay the onion for real news tbh.
27 0 ReplyMaybe it can only done by Jon's.
3 0 ReplyBoth have a place and they both as important as the other

They really could start publishing real news stories and no one would know the difference
29 0 ReplySince people are saying that reality is becoming ridiculous, there should be a newspaper that says believable fake things like "people are treating climate change seriously" or "everyone is wearing masks and quarantining after covid-19 pandemic"
8 0 Reply"Republicans voters appalled lawmakers wants to hurt immigrants more than help American families"
"Elon Musk announces he is joining Bill Gates and many other billionaires in pledging to give away 90% of their wealth in their lifetimes"
"McDonald's joins a growing movement among companies to prioritize employee happiness and wellness as a means to increase productivity"
"Citizens in both Russia and the United States are calling Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump's upcoming golf fundraiser World War III"
I feel like a news site from an alternative timeline where people aren't dicks to each other would be amazing!
7 0 ReplyWe really do live in the shittiest timeline if “normal” news seems so fake now

They kinda did, but it was an accident.

There should be a game that lets people guess if a news story is an Onion article or not.
10 0 ReplyThey did have a look at the major news outlets and the daily show a while back so.
8 0 ReplyIf they did, and no one could tell the difference.
