"No American can be proud of a government that carries out change in this way," the group's president wrote in a searing statement.
Summary
The American Bar Association (ABA) condemned Trump’s administration for disregarding the rule of law, urging courts and attorneys to push back.
ABA President William R. Bay criticized Trump’s rapid executive orders and restructuring of government agencies, including USAID’s dismantling.
He reminded the administration of the three coequal branches of government and praised a federal judge for blocking Trump’s executive order against birthright citizenship, emphasizing that the 14th Amendment guarantees this right.
Amid multiple lawsuits and government turmoil, Bay called on elected officials to defend legal norms, stating, “These are not partisan or political issues… We must stand up for the values we hold dear.”
Uh yeah? Last summer the highest court in the land essentially ruled that he doesn't have to so long as he's the president. Only Congress has the authority to stop him now through impeachment and conviction.
Every single one of those ecg-swasti-scribbles on an executive order will be pushed back as the presidential power authorized by the highest court prior to the election.
No shit Sherlock! Where have they been the last nine years, auditioning for "Idioacracy" II?
It's like we have evolved into to two species. One with intelligence, and the other with shit for brains.
Remember: America didn't want them. America looked at a choice between "felon" and "prosecutor" and cop voters chose the felon. Military people voted for the person who shirked his responsibility and denigrated them at every turn. Farmers who could read Project 2025 voted for the person who was going to run them bankrupt so his big-farm friends can buy up the land.
... and Shill Stein told the rest to essentially throw their vote.
The democrats can't do anything but try - TRY - to preserve the records that aren't yet purged. They're not going to stop what's happening, and we're going to see an exodus of people who can leave the country. Infrastructure, water, power, communications, all these sectors have no oversight, and no guarantee of stability. America will fall apart; eating poisonous food, drinking poisonous water, power plant workers choking to death alone in a hospital basement hallway.
America has no working FEMA, but it has worsening floods, fires, hurricanes and tornadoes. And it chose the guy whose response to a hurricane involved a sharpie, Thiel's couch-jumping altar boy, a rich man-child and the entire cast of goodfellas to take care of America and all the faith and money and blood and sweat on which its built.
As a friend of mine says: "The American Bar Association is a very agree-to-disagree organization. If the ABA is warning about an imminent collapse of the rule of law, we are down to studs and wires."
Yeah everyone's poking fun and cracking jokes, but this is a very politically neutral organization coming out and saying "No seriously, the country is on the verge of total collapse." Yes, we all know that and yes, it's silly nobody else is saying it, that doesn't stop this from being a big huge warning sign.
Or maybe someone high in the hierarchy of the Democratic party should give a rousing speech to the press, send out fundraising emails, and then do fuckall else.
