“We’re not a cult. We’re a collective of like minded free thinkers that aim to make America great again by supporting the convicted felon Donald Trump in his third presidential campaign”
Depends. I'm a white dude with a pickup, a car, and a motorcycle. If I'm not in the car I'm perfectly safe until they see I don't have bumper stickers or truck nuts.
So, I'm actually curious. If he was elected again would he be considered also the 47th president? Or would he still just be the 45th but with a second term? I don't think a president has ever only served one term and come back to serve again. I'm in the camp that he would still only be the 45th but served his second term after 46. And whomever serves after him would then be considered the 47th.
Edit: Thank you, I was unaware these actually already has happened before.
And what if I did do it? Even though I admit to nothing, and never will. What does that make me? And I'm not here just defending myself but all those pickers out there who've been caught. Each and every one of them, who has to suffer the shame and humiliation because of people like you.
Are we not human?! If we pick, do we not bleed?! I Am Not An Animal!
I’m pretty staunchly anti-MAGA/Trump, but the ear bandage thing doesn’t bother me. Looking dumb is kind of the point. It’s like shaving your head when your friend goes through chemo. A shitty thing happened to them and now there’s an outward facing aspect of it that they can’t change. You do the same thing to yourself so they’re not alone.
That being said, I’m very much looking forward to outliving Trump and hope to revel in some schadenfreude if he ever faces karmic retribution.
Also, the cult is real and terrifying for about a billion reasons outside of the ear bandage thing.
Please don't think that I endorse this or that I think that Trump is anything but a disgusting idiotic asshole, but how is wearing a bandaid on your ear to support a person any different than the ever popular shaving your head in support of a friend going through cancer? Do these also look dumb? I mean that there are Trump supporters is bad enough in itself, but at least they show compassion to a person when something happens. So the gesture is only bad in context I guess.
I see, yet I feel that if this was another celebrity, it would not be called dumb. If Julian Assange had been injured I believe the reaction would be different. Even if the bandaid looked the same.
But, again, just to be clear - having overbearing sympathy with someone who promotes violence and hatred after he got away with a scratch is at best questionable. Supporting such a person and believing that they will do them good is awful and naive. Being said person is... morally wrong, to say the least.
Hairstyle is a big part of most people's identity, and a disease, or anyway it's treatment, strips it away. People shave because their hair falls out like their body is just giving up. With the hair goes the ability to keep your sickness private. Everyone you know, and most people you come into contact with will know you're going through something big, and they will treat you differently. You're not you anymore. You're sick. Friends or family might try to show you it's not such a big deal by shaving their own heads, but strangers won't do that.
Let's contrast that with trump. His body isn't failing anymore than it already was. This doesn't strip him of his identity. If anything it solidifies it. This doesn't change the way people interact with him. This doesn't divulge any information about him that wasn't already public, by his own choice. Given his obvious insecurities, we would know if his ears were one of them and they are not. These people have no personal relationship with him. This isn't about making him feel better. It's about these people's own identity and demonstrating group solidarity.
