108 4 ReplyI think the issue is that none of those run up to mid thigh, lol. :)
33 2 ReplyI don't think they're implying that he is wearing those, it's just a reference photo for anyone who doesn't know what spatz are.
65 0 ReplyMy issue was not knowing what they were in the first place.

Their intended practical purpose was to protect shoes and socks from mud or rain, but they also served as a feature of stylish dress in accordance with the fashions of the period.
...
Increased informality may have been the primary reason for the decline in the wearing of spats.
...
A revival of high-top shoes with cloth uppers was forecast to replace them.

Seems about right for the joker. Don't get me wrong should still be a knife or something in the pump, but seems about right
29 0 ReplyKind of expected a garter belt and a dagger TBH
10 0 ReplyJust like Yzma.

What a joker
28 0 ReplyTook me a minute to understand. Someone should recolor the Joker with a non-pale skin color to show how it looks because in my head it looks funny this mobster looking-guy showing up making threats with women's shoes.
27 0 ReplyIt is the Joker, that's still in character.
54 0 ReplyI know, just found Joker even funnier now.

Pale, but like... Swedish pale, not clown makeup pale
More tanned. Outlines are a bit fucky on this one and I had to change the building behind him a bit because it was too close to the new skin colour, but I'm not doing an effort job for this
6 0 ReplyJoker crazy in the streets and the sheets.

Wow, I always assumed he was wearing old timey spats or something lol
22 2 ReplyProbably was and overthinking an animation flub isn't worth the effort. It's a quick joke and they weren't concerned that kids would freeze the frame and start questioning continuity. There's a McFarlane figure based on the Timm design that has laces where you'd think they'd be.
19 0 ReplyThey are lol, it's just a one off joke because it's ultimately a cartoon

If there's any character that wouldn't give a shit about gender roles, it's the Joker.
19 0 ReplyHe's batsexual and nothing else matters

I see a line at the ankle, and a change between white and an ultra-pale pink, but maybe that’s just me.
15 2 ReplyI sort of see it but it could just be compression artifacts. Someone will have to do further digging.

Sample Red Green Blue Thigh 87% 92% 96% Calf 87% 91% 98% Ankle 84% 87% 91% Samples taken as the average of a 5 pixel radius circle. The ankle is a little darker than the rest, but the colour is consistent

The more you look at it, the weirder it gets. Like his legs looks way to thin for his size, or how tiny his feet are compared to his hands.
Or how gigantic that fire hydrant is
10 0 ReplyThe animation was originally a female character, they just put the Joker over it.
Back in those days, a lot of animations were reused, especially cartoons. Certain movements could be seen hundreds of places.

it also reveals that he is almost as pale as I am
8 0 ReplyI'd call myself a day walker, but technically I burn in sunlight.

Not the entire animated series.
We can only confirm he wore them in one part of one episode ... on one leg.
