Trump was always going to be the GOP candidate. Even the Biden team wanted Trump because that is their entire strategy 'But Trump'. Biden didn't have another strategy.

DeSantis tried to out-Trump Trump's awfulness, and for all his social awkwardness, he's likely smarter than Trump. So I don't think he was any sort of improvement.
Well that was awfully short. He could have made a legit run against Trump, but his campaign was horribly managed, and early on he rode the culture war stuff too hard. Oh well. Four more years of orange man coming at us I guess.
