It's actually so sad that the country has armed dangerous paranoid psychopaths. Everyone not pro-gun has to thread carefully to avoid being executed by some asshole in a truck.
Not everyone who owns a gun and knows how to use it is necessarily pro-gun. Some people have them because they are reacting to living in a gun ridden country. We can't get rid of them at the moment, so it's not a bad idea to learn how to protect yourself in the meantime.
That being said, even gun owners have to tread carefully around certain types of people.
The important thing is that we cater to their bigotry because they might get violent. We should always do what violent people want at all times because they might get violent. We should never speak up or do anything that opposes them, because society must cater to terrorists.
Sure, stand up against bigotry, but know the risks and use caution. If you think that vandalizing a sticker, though humorous, is worth the risk, then by all means do so.
I'm not sure why you wanna give shit to the person who points out the risk though. Maybe you should direct more of that anger towards the terrorists and not the person saying to be careful of taunting terrorists for minimal gains?
Ultimately it is the individual's decision what they want to stand up to. It's not "catering to bigotry" to choose to avoid a single battle. That's akin to putting the onus on marginalized groups to educate hegemonic groups when they demonstrate ignorance. It's a powerful thing when it happens, but it is completely within one's right to just keep to themselves and go home peacefully for the night.
Yeah not sure what the intended outcome of this even is. Are they supposed to see that and think, "oh wow, maybe it is better to support this group I hate, I'm convinced!"? It's more likely to just get the next gay couple they see attacked with absolutely no benefit, other than some internet points for the person who made the video. Though most likely it will just confirm their bias that the people they hate are here and just want to fuck with them, so their desire to get rid of them feels more justified.
I've been listening to Punk Rock Factory the last days and your title is one of my favourites. If not for that, I wouldn't have gotten that ref. And nice paint job on that flag 🏳️🌈
Yeah, it's unfortunately politicized, I think that allowing it to be, means playing right into the hands of those who want to leverage it to support their agenda, though arguably anything that relates to people is politics in a way or another to be honest
Oh yes. Coloring in a sticker. You really stuck it to "them". Grow up. That's vandalizing. It's funny that the kind of people would do that are also going to resist if a cop sees them doing it and goes to (rightfully) arrest them. Then try to sue for police brutality and discrimination. Everyone hates the cops until they need them. Hate the bad apples, not the tree.
However you want to say it. Every group of people has shitty individuals in it. Treating all for the mistakes of a few is what I thought we were trying to get away from.
Only a certain type of person will put that sticker on their car. If you put that sticker on your car, you're likely the type of person that usually doesn't take kindly to having your property vandalized with rainbow flags.
He's coloring in a sticker. Nobody is going to investigate this, nobody is going to prosecute, and if the owner of that sticker is such a snowflake they need to get angry over it, then they shouldn't be part of a police force and they don't belong in a civilized society.
Damn you can really tell the difference between the sheltered people screaming about police being fascists from the people who have actually had to call the cops to resolve a shitty situation. Go for it Margret, color in those car stickers to bring down the fascists.
So it's chill to fuck up their flag but when yours gets messed with it's an act against all inclusivity? I'm noticing some inhale double standards, Darcy. Maybe we just don't fuck with other people's shit and let them express their views, shitty or otherwise, without vandalism. That thing baked into the foundation of American discourse? Perhaps?
Oh no... In that case you better not look into what kind of nasty stuff gets forcefully expelled into the surrounding atmosphere when you blow up a car (and everything that includes, such as the battery).
