This is kind of reminding me of addiction, it's the same pattern of either doing it to 100% or not at all, there's no moderation possible. Usually if you're predisposed to that you'll bring that pattern into everything in your life not just substances (but probably mainly substances).

Same thing happened to me. Except now I'm old and have had no fun experiences in life because all I do is work and shitpost on Lemmy. Never been on a plane or gone on a vacation.
