Mr P finally tested negative this morning. I'm off back to work, broke as a joke! Wish they hadn't taken away sick pay for casuals, would've really helped. I know you get paid a little extra and you're meant to tuck it away in case you get sick, but in a single income family that ain't happening.
Ted asked to have his face brushed and the rest of him brushed too. He likes it and I think he sees the need for it. Sadly he isn't a low maintenance Neeb he's a high maintenance Blue Himalayan, which explains his very cute face.
Learning modules through work are always a terrible experience. Why are they so clunky and difficult to use? They could just be forms with embedded images and videos
State government ones are pretty bad as well, so much time wasting and they require you to click everything on the page to even be allowed to proceed to the next slide.
I did accessibility testing on some when I worked at the DET. They were so bad. All I had to do is be able to use a screen reader and TAB through all the options, so many failed at that.
Apparently accessibility needs to be scoped into these things from the start, they don't build them with those features in mind
I realised I haven't had Vegemite in a long time. I'm ashamed to admit it, but it's been about 1-2 years since I last had it. I remedied that with some Vegemite toast. I dont usually eat breakfast, but sometimes you just need that nice kick to start the day. And it's useful because it's actually got some food value, especially with wholemeal or high fibre bread. Unlike most cereals which are essentially just flavoured sugar
I only have sourdough on a fancy day when I get eggs Benny from a nice cafe. There's one near be that does a bleeding Jane one or something like that. Basically just eggs Benedict, but they put sriracha in the eggs and over the top. Pretty good with a tall OJ!
Despite mrs b’s lack of enthusiasm, and a little bit more lenience from her than I would like I’ve gotta say the bedtime routine seems to be working a lot better with the kid. That’s night 2 he’s gone down after 2 stories without it being a shit fight. And we’re only 3 days into the routine.
Welcome to the multi club! An infinate array of focus options, none of which will ever seem to be quite right. Plus, as a bonus, you have an increased likelihood of peering down your nose at random items you hold out at arms length whilst still failing to see them clearly.
Muscle memory is a heck of a thing hey. I got a coffee at the drive through, used my right hand to put it in the cup holder so used my left foot to go for the break, my brain recoiled cause I guess it was expecting a clutch to go all the way to the floor. Looked down at the gear selector and there was a 3 second delay (though it felt like an eternity) where my brain goes "P? D?! the fuck is this, what do I do?" before it finally clicks and go "oh. Select D you idiot".
2 years we've had some form of auto car now, and for 10 months its been my primary daily driver.
I got some bad news from the TAFE company. Apparently they've run out of funded places for the course I wanted to take, but I was able to get a place before they did. Unfortunately apparently without as many free TAFE people, and the absence of many paying people, they don't have enough people to start the course anymore. Is this a normal thing in the TAFE world? It sounds odd
They offered me a few other options. There's a few courses I could switch to, notably a dual cert IV in community services + AOD. I was planning on taking a dual IV in AOD + Mental health next year, so I'm open to the option, but I'm not confident I have the skills and capacity to do that. It's still 1 night a week, but 3 hours instead of 2, and for 15 months.
The other 3 options are essentially all variations for cancelling in some capacity. I can either go take an induction to community services course, which doesn't really give me anything, although I can then do a credit transfer in a cert III/IV, or I can cancel and find a different provider (I have not sentimentalities for these ones, they were just the first one suggested to me and seemed decent enough), or I can cancel and go on a waitlist for their next cert III, probably next year
Is this a bigger place (like Box Hill, holmsglen, Swinburne etc) If so ask them about advice on alternate courses and could they help you enrol at another institution, seeing as they cancelled the course. No guarantee they will say yes, but hopefully they may be able to help. No harm in asking.
But from your previous comments though, sounds like there was lots of stuffing around anyway, so I’m wondering if it was a smaller organisation or private college? If so, probably for the best. You might have dodged a bullet on having a bad experience, they sound very disorganised. Use your motentum to find an enrolment elsewhere. You got this! It’s just a blip, don’t let it get in the way of your goals.
After waking up in a 10-13 degree room for the last week or few, it's been nice to wake up and it's still 18-19. I've even been able to put the electric blanket down to low again!
You know how hungry + angry = hangry? Is there a version for hungry + sad? Like I have just felt low key sad all afternoon because I didn't eat enough for brunch. Deprived. Living off digestives until I could get home and eat dinner.
The warm sun streak ends tomorrow. Sigh, it was nice to feel like I was in a warm exotic location, being able to wear shorts without being cold, no heating required, did wonders for my mood.
Gosh it was almost tropical today being down to ONE layer and short sleeves, no heating, window open.... feet not feeling like ice blocks for once... Goldilocks weather.
The temps aren't looking that bad over the next week! Aside from Sunday
You won't regret it. It's vast, and has so much to discover. The romances are great, the combat is fun (I play on easy/story), and you won't need to know DnD to have a great time.
I haven't done it justice in this blurb, but seriously, it's such a great game. It's different from the games you've listed, but I'd say it's most similar to Stardew with its NPC interactions/romances and dungeoning, with the added bonus of:
nudity
eldritch beings
nude eldritch beings
swearing, and
Karlach
Edit: this is the last game you'll ever need to buy!
It's very built on the Dungeons and Dragons combat/spell rules, which has been a for and against factor for many friends. I played about 100 hours and sort of put it down. I like it. I like the story, I prefer action games. BG3 is turn based and you can save as often as you want so as much as there's strategic pressure like chess, there's less immediate pressure like hungry hungry hippos.
I am sold on BG3, thanks people. Unfortunately though, I went to buy the game and the payment was not going through. So I've decided to wait a while and then hopefully next time it will work. Delayed gratification for the win :)
There has been night roadworks near me, and my sister was complaining of a high pitched noise coming from drilling. I didn't hear it until she pointed it out. Even though her room is close to mine and we share a wall, I can hear it louder in there.
I didn't think this community was this quick to gatekeep. I've seen them comment here before, but gatekeeping someone's opinion based on how much they post here is absurd.
but when a new poster pops by with a vague pro-palestine message I assume you’re not interested in this community and simply looking to spread your message.
And what would that message be? Genocide bad? I'm not a new poster here and if I comment a pro-palestine message would you assume the same? It's disheartening to see this thread have so many downvotes and this argument, almost so much as the MSO's statement the other day.
my hair colour is growing out and I keep wondering what to do with it. Maybe recolour black and get a cut to even my long hair up. Make over later perhaps, the other seagoons keep saying colour it white and maybe get an accent colour. 🤷♀️
...and now I'm looking up custom brass faceplates 'cos I want to steampunk my network patch panel. I don't want a snake of cables out the wall, I want an inset row of ports ports ports
Has anyone picked up one of those refurbed dell optiplexes before? I'm thinking of getting one, putting a massive HDD I have in it, and using it to torrent and watch things through kodi.
It seems like the biggest issue is finding that balance of price and specs. I don't need anything fancy but it's always nice to have some headroom for things like emulation
If anyone has, please loop me in on the experience too. They're always recommended as good NAS servers, as they're usually cheap and have fine hardware.
I have heard that it's better to go with a full size one rather than one of those mini/SFFs, as there's more drive bays, so more potential storage capacity and you can more easily put everything into a decent sized RAID array. But if you don't mind just having one giant drive, it should be fine. I think full size ones are easier to modify, but that's just my assumption
Full sized ones should be good as a starter NAS. The potential issue with modifying them is Dell use a lot of proprietary parts like motherboards and power supplies. Otherwise you should be able to use them fine.
I think I'd get an SFF one and just put a big drive in it for movies. It may not be the fastest but SATA should be better than a USB cable for reading data
That's why I was thinking an SFF so it can fit a 3.5 in it. After that I could get some micro pcsfor whatever self hosting projects I think of. I saw some Dell micro PCs going for around $69 a while ago
@Seagoon_
I am a newbie to the fediverse and a mastodon user, so I can't see the original lemmy topic. just chiming in to say I am fascinated by the restraint of the combatants over legitimacy on the turf. I am not quite sure how one participates in the fediverse without comments. I can see how this would be considered interjections by some, not always welcome.
@StudChud @Deceptichum and @dumblederp
exchanged sporting riposte. It was so polite. Not like wikiedia editors who are reactionary libtards dressed as 'neutral' cyclopaedic lambs. Freedom of assembly being an Australian value I hold dear.
