Fallout: London, the Fallout 4 total conversion mod, releases today

I haven't installed it or tried it out myself but it is being hosted here on GOG which is neat. Here is an article a bit about why GOG is hosting it.
The Steam version apparently requires the use of this downgrader mod from the Nexus.
You will need the GOTY edition with all the DLC either way.
If you want to see how the mod is several people are already streaming it.
Here is some information from the GOG page:
---

Wasteland Hoarding Simulator
Does anyone else play these games first and foremost, as if they were an item hoarding simulator?
My largest goal is always to establish a base of operations, and then collect everything I can get my hands on.

Would you like functional vehicles in the next Fallout game? If so, how would you want them implemented?
I use the word functional instead of usable or controllable because that's kind of under the umbrella of how they could be implemented.
Both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 had rail systems you could see moving (the presidential metro and Nuka-Express) opposed to Fallout New Vegas (Camp McCarran's monorail) for example.
I feel like the two major concerns would be how their addition would effect map design and how the engine is going to handle them.

-(Spoilers) I can't stand the Railroad...
Spoilers ahead.
I'm replaying Fallout 4. With my first playtrough I allied with the Institute. Now I wanted to have different game so I decided to ally with the Railroad. But I can't suffer them. They are just a bunch of morons and their whole agenda is ridicoulous. I'm at the stage when I'm about to officially betray the Institute by helping some synths escape. But it involves killing some innocent Institute researches and their synths to save other synths. To save a few robots I'm supposed to kill actual people and other robots? I'm trying to roleplay as a good guy here! It doesn't make any sense...
I see the Institute as the only reasonable faction to join. People live happy and civilized lives there. They are technologically advanced and can actually change the world. ^trying ^to ^avoid ^major ^spoilers: >!Your relative lives there. You get a say on Institute future goals and if you're a good guy, you can turn that to good outcome.!<
Brotherhood of Steel - military organisation that just hoards technology for themselves and have their heads inside their asses
Railroad - bunch of misguided idiots.
Has any of you actually helped the Railroad because you liked them?

Happy Fasnacht to all my fellow 76ers! Hope your events are full of glowing masks and all the plans you want 💕
I've done three so far, didn't have power yesterday, and haven't received anything cool yet. Got an Alien mask which does look good with my nuka-girl spacesuit but that's about it. Really dying for any form of Deathclaw mask. How's everyone else doing so far? What mask are you most wanting? Are you hoping for the elusive butter churner?

Anyone here play fo76?
I'm at the final fight for skyline and it's the most garbage fucking cheap ass brain dead unfair piece of shit fight in the entire game. I'm in hellkat armor, and I still die in like 2 minutes from a few tiny hits from this piece of shit and I'm over it. For other players, how the fuck are you supposed to beat this shit?
-
Who here plays 76?
Just curious. The 76 Lemmy community is kinda entirely fucking dead and I'm banned from Reddit so I can't post there. Is there a better place to discuss and chat about 76? I'm feeling lost and somewhat lonely without being able to chat on the subreddit.

A Fallout 2 3D remake is being worked on by a fan
The project has been in the works for a while. About a year ago it seems several YouTube videos were released covering it. Here is one by T0nik. I was pleasantly surprised to see it is being worked on.
---
If you are interested in this kind of thing you might also be interested in Project Arroyo. It's a remake of Fallout 2 in Fallout 4's engine. There's also the older project The Chosen's Way, it is also trying to remake Fallout 2, but in Fallout New Vegas' engine. As far as I can tell that one has been abandoned for years now.
Pretty much every Fallout game (and Van Buren) has some kind of remake or port project if you want to go really down the rabbit hole but a lot of them lose momentum after a while.

Fallout 76 Players Are Seeing an Increase in Griefing
Some fans appear determined not to let this trend affect the game's welcoming reputation, having reported that they are trying to rebuild other people's C.A.M.P.s whenever they see them nuked, and work even harder to support newbies in other ways. Between that and Fallout 76's existing anti-griefing measures, it's possible that this potential uptick in malicious player activity will pass before long.

OMG Thank you bethesda
Yeah, i cannot believe im actually saying this where it can be archived and thrown in my face at a later time, but damn. Thank you bethesda for FINALLY baking ultrawide into the game, now I dont need janky mods to make things work and look proper anymore! Dont get me wrong, the folks who made the mods I was using did a 1000x better job than I could have ever done, but im glad bethesda actually did it, seems to work great so far.
Wonder if I can get my orginal save back up and running again.

Does Fallout need two timelines?
An OG timeline (FO1, FO2, Tactics, and FNV) and a Bethesda timeline (all the games/shows they made). I don't know why Bethesda didn't do this when they got the rights. It would make things easier for them. Due not having fans talk about how Bethesda broke the lore. Will, if they don't broke their lore. But you got my point.
EDIT About New Vegas. Bethesda didn't make it, but they did published it. So what timeline it belongs in? The reason I put it in the OG timeline. Because it being more similar with the OG games then Bethesda ones. But the show throws an monkey wrench into things. I guess New Vegas can be in both timelines.
EDIT 2 Both timelines can have the same factions, creatures so on. But the OG games are still canon in it's timeline. So everyone can be happy.

Do mods and "cheats" impact trophies?
Apologies in advance if this is the wrong community.
I’ve just returned to the game for the first time since 2017 after downloading the next-gen update. I’m a bit of a “trophy hunter”, but I’m also intrigued by mods and quick codes for the Bethesda games (I was a Skyrim fanatic). Will mods or “cheats” impact my ability to earn trophies?
If so, I’ll wait until I have the platinum and then try it.

Anybody know where I might be able to find some prints of the art in Fallout? Would love to find the top two on the left. I pulled the screen shot from The Art of Fallout 4

Fallout 4 Next Gen Update Discussion
https://bethesda.net/en/article/4RcipuAES2k0KP7eYf2DwD/fallout-4-next-gen-patch-notes
Just started playing it this morning on my PS5. I’m perpetually frustrated by Bethesdas snail like pace when it comes to this type of thing but the update seems excellent so far.
It’s running at a buttery smooth 120 FPS in quality mode with VRR on. I thought for sure their performance mode would be limited to 60 FPS so this is amazing.
Edit: apparently quality mode is a 40 FPS target internally with VRR enabled. Performance mode is 60 FPS as expected. So it’s doing frame multiplying to boost it up to 120. Still feels and looks incredible though. Quality mode is native 4K with ultra settings and looks crispy as fuck.
