Big problems require solving root issues
  • IMO, this is the data people who are arguing against it refuse to see.

Removing those resources isn't stopping the problem, it just pushes it deeper underground. And then it spills out into the neighborhoods/small towns that have been wrecked by it.

  • Belching
  • Gonna sound racist but deal with it.

I constantly meet asian developers (Singapore , India, China, etc) with this edgelord personality. They come to American conferences and meetups, say some wild sexist shit, and someone has to politely let them know not to.

Some backtrack. Some apologize. Some literally freeze up and pretend like it didn't happen.

'There Are No Kings in America': Biden Blasts Supreme Court, Issues Dire Warning After Immunity Ruling

dailyboulder.com ‘There Are No Kings in America’: Biden Blasts Supreme Court, Issues Dire Warning After Immunity Ruling

President Joe Biden delivered a scathing rebuke of the Supreme Court on Monday, condemning their ruling granting presidents absolute immunity from prosecution for official acts. In a somber address from the White House, Biden warned of dire consequences should former President Donald Trump secure a ...

‘There Are No Kings in America’: Biden Blasts Supreme Court, Issues Dire Warning After Immunity Ruling

“(With) today’s Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity, that fundamentally changed. For all practical purposes, there are virtually no limits on what the president can do. It’s a fundamentally new principle and it’s a dangerous precedent because the power of the office will no longer be constrained by the law even including the supreme court of the United States.”

Throughout his address, Biden underscored the gravity of the moment, emphasizing that the only barrier to the president’s authority now lies in the personal restraint of the officeholder. He warned vehemently against the prospect of Trump returning to power, painting a stark picture of the dangers such an outcome could pose.

In the US, did Amazon kill the mall, is everyone too broke, or a combination of other factors?
  • People use Amazon instead of the mall because they can still afford the Temu-level garbage Amazon sells.

    I mean a few reasons.

    • Pricing is better on Amazon vs mall. I can get a Gangsta Luffy T-shirt at $12 vs $20 at hot topic
    • Inventory is significantly bigger. Outside of clothes, I can't imagine not finding the exact online version and compare
    • Malls are kinda ugly now. Many are indoor and just wall to wall commercialism.
    • People suck. Naked dude stealing stop signs and angry Karen about the take a dump on the escalator.
    • Driving vs ship to door.
    • Both have temu-level garbage, but it's cheaper on Amazon.
  • Protestation
  • I'm laughing at this because in my state, a bunch of second generation latino construction workers are upset that Mexican construction workers are doing their jobs. And their solution was to vote for Trump, who would lock them all up in cages.

  • It's not all that broad. And I look forward to their indignance.
  • My incel 30yo cousin loves Musk as of last year.

He used to tweet at Musk to say things like "good job" and swore if he could get Musk to see him, he'd wow him with a billion dollars.

He's the kind of guy who would watch a 4 hour YouTube video of a book summary, rather than read the book. And Ive been slowly deprogramming him because he's in his 30s and miserable, and realizing Joe Rogan lied to him.

  • It's not all that broad. And I look forward to their indignance.
  • I have met Musk! This was in 2018 at a startup conference, pre-wtf Elon days.

He was actually really inspiring about his dream of space and humanity. But he was also weirdly edgelord. Then we all realize he was a walking talking meme and going around doing that backpack kid floss dance everywhere while people were trying to talk serious with him.

If you told me the guy was 25-30, i would believe you. But the dude is in his 50s, has a bunch of kids who don't speak to him.

    What a fucking loser.

Right-wingers are now raging at a farm supply store – because they have LGBTQ+ staff initiatives

www.thepinknews.com Anti-LGBTQ+ bigots are now raging at *checks notes* a farm supply store

Right-wing activist Robby Starbuck is demanding his followers take action against Tractor Supply over their LGBTQ+ inclusion initiatives.

Rural retail chain company Tractor Supply are facing calls for a boycott for, amongst other things, donating money to diversity and inclusion causes, which included projects that support LGBTQ+ youth.

Tractor Supply is far from the only retail chain that has faced boycott calls over DEI and Pride initiatives in recent years, though a rural supply company is certainly an unusual target for the right.

In fact, just today, right-wingers decided to take aim at IKEA’s rainbow Pride charity cake. To mark Pride Month 2024, the UK branch of the Swedish furniture chain announced its popular rainbow cake is back in its restaurants and will be sold throughout June, with 100 per cent of the profits going to LGBT+ Switchboard.

An $18 Big Mac meal sparked a revolt against high prices. Companies are finally listening

Pop quiz: How much does a Big Mac, fries and a fountain beverage – also known as a Big Mac combo meal – cost?

An $18 Big Mac meal sparked a revolt against high prices. Companies are finally listening | CNN Business

Many people believe it’s an astounding $18 after a post on X of McDonald’s menu prices at a rest stop in Connecticut went viral and made national headlines. (Narrator voice: It’s not.)

Now, almost a year after the post, a top McDonald’s executive wants to set the record straight. In a recent letter, Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald’s USA, said $18 for a Big Mac combo was the “exception” and not the norm across all 13,700 restaurants in the country.

The average price of a Big Mac in the US was $4.39 in 2019,” Erlinger said in his recent letter. “Despite a global pandemic and historic rises in supply chain costs, wages and other inflationary pressures in the years that followed, the average cost is now $5.29. That’s an increase of 21% (not 100%),” he added.

Death of 12-year-old at North Carolina camp for troubled youth ruled a homicide

www.nbcnews.com Autopsy report rules 12-year-old's death at camp for troubled adolescents a homicide

The boy, who died after less than 24 hours at Trails Carolina, couldn’t breathe in the tent where he was placed to sleep, according to an autopsy report.

Autopsy report rules 12-year-old's death at camp for troubled adolescents a homicide

The boy died in February, less than 24 hours after having arrived at Trails Carolina, a for-profit program that has since lost its operating license. Trails Carolina has said the death appeared to be accidental and that staff members performed CPR after they found the boy unresponsive the morning after he arrived. He was inside a bivy, a one-person tent secured with an alarm.

The camp has said it routinely placed children in bivvies overnight for their safety when they arrived. The autopsy report said the inner mesh panel of the boy’s bivy was torn, so counselors sealed the outer, weather-resistant door panel instead, which was not the camp’s protocol.

Before its license was revoked, Trails Carolina, in Lake Toxaway, served children with behavioral issues and diagnoses such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism and post-traumatic stress disorder. A medical examiner’s report released with the autopsy findings said the boy who died had ADHD, anxiety, migraines and social challenges, including “a very hard time making friends.”

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree faces ‘mixed’ Steam rating as players share issues

“Right now even with 60 vigor you get one-shot by nearly every enemy that’s not pure fodder (like the classical wandering nobles in the base game),” Steam user ‘Flippikus’ writes. “And the Scadutree fragments that should make your damage and defense increase (exclusively while in the DLC) don’t help that much and are mostly locked behind bosses.”

The negative reviews, which also continually praise the world’s design and art direction, can’t handle some of the other choices, especially the boss fights. “Bosses in this DLC are exceptionally weak. While visually they are fantastic, their balance is totally off,” ‘Chanddy’ writes. “The combos they do are really annoying to learn [and] way too long – sometimes chaining up to ten different attacks before you get even a brief second opening to return damage.”

In terms of performance, players are upset that Shadow of the Erdtree is locked at 60 frames per second, with micro-stuttering and a lack of ultrawide or DLSS support as well. These things can be fixed or added down the line, but as of right now, it appears that the expansion isn’t incredibly well optimized.
