The 'welcome hub' update was pushed in the US first and I haven't got yet - at this point I'm thinking about disabling updates until they sort this bullshit.
But I already got unsolicited news feed notification I haven't subscribed to at least twice and they cannot be hidden. There was an ad for superbowl and whatever they were advertising (a streaming platform? Don't remeber) wasn't even available in my region (not that it being available would make this acceptable).
Another one is showing right now. An ad to pre-order Metro - game I don't follow. It's a feed from "PlayStation".

I sympathize with fellow PC gamers for this needles requirement (even though PSN account is my main account). I'm just surprised there's no similar backlash for other devs requiring respective account creation (EA, BioWare, Blizzard etc. etc.). Sony did not invent this practice.

I use NewPipe for Youtube, there are no ads at all.
I use AdGuard for blocking ads phone-wide and if I hadn't, Vivaldi has a built-in adblocker too.
Bottom line is I don't see any ads without using uBlock Origin. Original commenter is "surprised more people aren't using" it like it's the only way to go, while in reality it usable only in certain scenarios. It's best for PC but not for mobile.
For which mobile and what extensions manager?
I'm blocking ads phone-wide, I just don't use uBlock Origin for that on the phone.

I'm replaying Fallout 4. With my first playtrough I allied with the Institute. Now I wanted to have different game so I decided to ally with the Railroad. But I can't suffer them. They are just a bunch of morons and their whole agenda is ridicoulous. I'm at the stage when I'm about to officially betray the Institute by helping some synths escape. But it involves killing some innocent Institute researches and their synths to save other synths. To save a few robots I'm supposed to kill actual people and other robots? I'm trying to roleplay as a good guy here! It doesn't make any sense...
I see the Institute as the only reasonable faction to join. People live happy and civilized lives there. They are technologically advanced and can actually change the world. ^trying ^to ^avoid ^major ^spoilers: >!Your relative lives there.
