Bluesky adds 700,000 new users in a week / A ‘majority' of the new users are from the US, indicating that people are searching for a new platform as an alternative to X.
  • Yeah but no. It's not an RSS feed per se. It's researchers sharing what they publish and what other publish with ints or resumes sometimes. Then people would comment and researchers reply.

  • What did I read? Oh boy...

  • Serious statement: I don't understand the argument that not voting for Harris was the morally correct thing to do, because of Gaza. Why does anyone believe this?
  • Where did I pretend this? Both are for the riches, but, the far right uses populism as a trap.

The thing is that they need a new narrative and stop being neolibs if they want to win. Playing the game of the enemy doesn't, people will choose the original.

  • Realistically... How fucked is the US?
  • At least 200%, it's the end of an era.

  • Serious statement: I don't understand the argument that not voting for Harris was the morally correct thing to do, because of Gaza. Why does anyone believe this?
  • It's not Gaza. It's that the Dems are a party of the riches. They don't represent the poorer anymore. When you have this political shift, you open the doors of the far right.

  • Fennec 132.0.0 is out and so up to date
  • Mull devs had to change the fork they use for the browser due to fennec being outdate. This is why you're on 132.0.1.

  • Fennec 132.0.0 is out and so up to date

The devs released Fennec 132.0.0 some days ago. If you didn't update, it's more than time. It's also good news for mull.

Americans: Never, EVER question again how Hitler came to power in 1933 Germany
  • I would add guerilla tactics. But, the main issue is that the US Constitution allow it. Freedom has a limit, once you passed the limit, you allow fascism.

  • This can't be real can it?
  • Don't forget that Trump is a cult. It's not rationality anymore.

  • Gen Z, how has your dating experience been?
  • Say you're American without saying you're American.

  • Oh, bother
  • China changed.

  • Norwegian government to set 15-year age limit for using social media
  • No need of this. Make a mandatory physical check of the ID that can't be subcontracted. People want an account? They need to go to an office and open it there like it was the case in the past for a bank account.

  • Elon Musk has regularly talked with  Vladimir Putin — and faced 'implicit threats': report
  • This dipshit is a danger for the human being on earth.

  • Elon Musk regularly communicates with Putin since late 2022 – WSJ.
  • Elon is a treat for the world and humanity in general.

  • Is Lemmy an effective alternative to Reddit?
  • When I started using Reddit, it was a circlejerk.

  • Russia bans fruit and veg from Kazakhstan after country refuses to join BRICS

  • Mozilla to expand focus on advertising - "We know that not everyone in our community will embrace our entrance into this market"
  • I don't see how they think it's a good move. I'm not speaking about people being upset. Most of the Firefox users are either people having at least some tech knowledge or people which use it because of a person with some tech knowledge.

And most of these people use an ad-blocker, know how to install a fork and so on. So, from the beginning, I don't know who think it's a good idea other than to kill Firefox.

  • How do you eat kiwifruits?

How do you eat this fruit called kiwi?

After more than 30 years using a small spoon, I changed. Now I'm eating the whole fruit including the skin.

Firefox Nightly for Android 130 and new navigation bar

With the version 130, Mozilla introduces a new navigation bar in Firefox for Android. If you don't like it, you can disable it in the "Secret Settings".

I was not a fan when it popped out on my screen. But, after sometime, it's pretty useful and saves a tap on the three dots button.

Landmark ruling: Switzerland's climate policy violates human rights - SWI swissinfo.ch

In a much-anticipated ruling, the European Court of Human Rights has decided that Swiss authorities are responsible for not implementing efficient climate change policies[...]

On Tuesday, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) upheld their appeal and condemned Switzerland for violating the right to respect for private and family life (Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights).

Today’s ruling is unprecedented. This is the first time that the ECHR has condemned a state for failing to take action against climate change, linking the protection of human rights to compliance with environmental obligations.

    [...] ____________________

The new ruling should apply to the 46 States member of the European Council.

    New laptop

    Hi everyone!

I need to buy a new laptop to replace my 12 years old laptop. I didn't look after hardware for a while for some personal reasons.

I will buy something new. My needs are:

    • photo editing
    • video editing
    • vector graphics editing/creation
    • good battery life (I don't want to worry about)
    • web navigating, docs, spreadsheets
    • USB-C charging would be nice

I don't game, and Framework isn't available where I live.

I would be happy to have some recommendation on what is a good hardware for this use and good brand.

    Thanks!
