The tech billionaire had complained that some Reddit users were advocating violence against his staff.
Reddit has temporarily banned one of its communities - and removed another - after X owner Elon Musk claimed comments made by the site's users about his employees were breaking the law.
The r/WhitePeopleTwitter subreddit, which typically invites people to share funny posts from X, has been banned for 72 hours after some users posted comments calling for violence against members of the Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (Doge).
They were responding to reports which suggested some Doge staff have been granted access to sensitive personal information of millions of Americans.
Musk - who frequently champions his commitment to free speech - shared a post on X containing the comments, and stated: "they have broken the law".

Yeah, he doesn't give a rats ass about the law. Or, more specifically, he only cares about the laws that protect him, but he doesn't give a rats ass about the laws that are meant to protect others, often from people like him.
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
There is no such thing as liberalism — or progressivism, etc.
There is only conservatism. No other political philosophy actually exists; by the political analogue of Gresham’s Law, conservatism has driven every other idea out of circulation.
There might be, and should be, anti-conservatism; but it does not yet exist.
We need anyone who is still on Reddit or has an old account to get over there and let folks know that there is a great community here and we would welcome them!
That's why we should be conscientious about directing communities to an appropriate instance. If they want to post about political violence, there's a place for that.
If they are LGBT, particularly trans, then blahaj is particularly well suited for example.
Just because I happen to be on .world doesn't mean I necessarily think it's the best place for every community. I would have to be pretty stupid to come to the Fediverse and oppose Federation.
Saw a thread locked in subreddit drama, but that has basically been it. Honestly, out of all the bullshit reddit has done, this is not it. The people were very clearly doxxing and fodder at that. I almost suspect this was planted, the people targeted were meaningless pawns who could have easily been replaced by any one of Musk's sycophants. If people want to throw punches, aim for the king.
Who's defending them? Or are you just disingenuously gaslighting me? They are worthless fodder in an environment full of far better targets. Who do you think those jails in El Salvador are being prepared for? But if you want to get caught in the easiest to detect trap a dictator has ever set, you do you.
