Yeah, nothing changed and we still have ignorant idiots who refuse to accept what Edward Teller (yup the dude fantasising about building the H Bomb in Oppenheimer) already warned about in 1957 ( Sauce )... And he wasn't even the first scientist to do so.
Ugh, I just had a spirited "debate" with my father about climate change, and I just can't handle his response, I want to post it so I can show what we are competing with.
"Lol very cute, but if you notice the earth has moved closer to the sun. Our universe is constantly moving there for change. We can be dealing with a natural change and not even know about it. It's easy to blame man, but the universe is a whole lot bigger than us. Love you both, Happy Easter"
Gentle reminder that generally nothing happens when cutting specific people out of your life. If you want to make people change, having a connection helps more than anything else.
I love this graphic, but it's a little outdated. that arrival of humans in NA can be pushed back to at least 20,000 ya. And we're probably already past the "best case" temperature shown here for 2100 (depending how you take averages, and how hot '24 is)
One degree change in the last 100 years. The earth temperature increased by one degree from about 9750bc to 9000bc as well, but in a period 7 times as long!
This is a bad outlook. Humanity probably won't go extinct, but billions of people will die prematurely. Worrying about our "species" misses the point. We should worry about all the humans who will die instead. I don't worry about "extinction," but I worry about mass suffering and death. That's far more terrifying and far more motivating for me.
