Alternative LTT Communities
One of the key differences between traditional social media and the Fediverse is the existence of multiple communities that share the same topic. You should have a choice when it comes to your community preferences so I wanted to create a list of other LTT/LMG communities on the Fediverse to help us all grow.
If you’re aware of a community I’ve missed, please comment them below and I’ll update the post body.

Some time ago the popular Tech Channel #LinusTechTips published a Video as part of their new #DeGoogeYourLife 3 part series. However this Video (part 2) was now taken down by #Google: https://youtu.be/apdZ7xmytiQ While the Video in question did not in any way promote harmful content, however this just serves as a reminder why Google's #monopoly with #YouTube is problematic. Also shout out to the Videos sponsor for giving a discount with the code "fuckyoutube" 😂 Here is the first part of the Series for everyone interested: https://youtu.be/YnSv8ylLfPw

Wow what have we come to
I've been subscribed for 25 years and this one finally got me to unsubsidized. I can't believe they did it. I didn't watch any of there videos as I know that they are all bad. Like don't they know something or other? So and so was right and also I read the comments so I know what I'm talking about.
Fun to find an interesting use case for the MCM in the form of my on-the-go Aeropress caddy
The MCM arch holds the grinder handle in place which keeps it from flopping around, and keeps the grinder in the caddy. It's a really clean and easy solution for this unique problem.
I talk more about the caddy in this video if you're interested - Timestamped Link
On Friday a video will be out where I talk more about the final version (shown in the video attached to this post), but the function is quite similar, just with the correct measurements because measuring is hard...
I would be happy to share the STL, but I haven't yet as I figure not too many folks have the exact same aeropress setup as I do with the scale and grinder, and I'm lazy (but honest at least!)
The (https://mastodon.social/tags/NuXT), a new (https://mastodon.social/tags/intel) 8088 mainboard from (https://mastodon.social/tags/monotech) with (https://mast
The #NuXT, a new #intel 8088 mainboard from #monotech with #rgblights ? OF COURSE!

Controversy swept under the rug
Decided to check back on things after a coming across a comment saying a month had already gone by. Completely unsurprisingly everything was swept under the rug. The promise to "release findings" seems now nothing but a tactic to shut up anyone calling them out and now they just act like nothing happened.
Who woulda thunk?.
On the quality issues they still manage to fuck up even with all the "new processes" Won't surprise me if sooner rather than later they just go back to the regular shitshow.
Madison on why she quit
Madison talks about her experience at LTT (CW: self-harm, sexual assault)
There are a couple more tweet that can be found here.
Did Linus make a mistake buying the Porsche Taycan?
YouTube Video
Synopsis: Alex claims the all electric Porsche Taycan Linus bought, although having all the cool features, lacks the "fun" of a gas car. A gas car like the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla Core. Linus drives the GR Corolla, then Alex takes it to the track.
What do you think of the video?

I like how Linus was saying LTT was moving away from jank, this video says otherwise.
I'm new, should I post video updates like this when LTT releases good videos? Or is this community just for discussion?
In case anyone was wondering: The Tomtoc Steam Deck Case fits horizontally in the LTT backpack
Discover the magic of the internet at Imgur, a community powered entertainment destination. Lift your spirits with funny jokes, trending memes, entertaining gifs, inspiring stories, viral videos, and so much more from users like Clipboards.
I tried looking around for info on a steam deck case that was horizontally compatible with the LTT backpack and couldn't find any pictures/guarantees online. If anyone is unfamiliar, they designed the backpack to fit the steam deck during its design phase, but they didn't account for the carrying case (it wasn't publicly revealed at the time). Since I got the backpack, i've had to throw my steam deck case in vertically, which took up a ton of room
I went ahead and snagged a Tomtoc case since its the slimmest carrying case I could find on Amazon, and sure enough, it fits like a charm!

Edit: not posting this video as a link, because then the video description (full of ill-formatted spam) fills the space meant for the post.

On the other hand, if an investigator is found out to do bad investigations, their credibility gets lost. Some corporations likely would choose them for exactly that reason, but most won't, so there's some incentive to do a proper job.
Given I don't know of bad rumors about this corporation, I'd go with @[email protected]'s take that the following statement was written by a lawyer and thus sexual harassment did happen but was addressed.
Allegations that sexual harassment were ignored or not addressed were false.
Given that this issue was made public, it wasn't addressed well enough for at least some parties involved. Hopefully harassment won't be an issue going forward.
Anonymized is still risky as people speech has a pattern. All it takes is one nutjob to dox and now everyone has a problem.
Edit to add further information why anonymization is hard. US survey and statistics data is jittered in a random way to protect the privacy since it is possible to backtrack the statistics to the person who answers the survey. I think it was explained in a minutephysics video.
That is a whole government department dealing with sensitive data and mathematical proof that their survey result is anonymous. What can a law firm do to guarantee anonymization? Remember, guarantee is a strong word here as it carries legal implication for the firm. If the firm cannot guarantee anonymization, then the company would not want to be liable when shit hits the fan.
Long and the short of it is that they had been making tons of factual errors by just being sloppy. They were growing super fast and investing tons of money in Labs, touting how accurate and trustworthy they were while making a bunch of dumb mistakes. Oh, also being just really unaware of how it comes off having your YouTube channel employees doing construction and installation work on your McMansion while some of them were still living in their parents’ basement.

That video and its follow up are worth the watch if you have the time though.

There’s more to it than that, that video (and its follow-up) are definitely worth the watch if you have the time.
Edit: Linus has been consistently anti-union, saying he’d feel as if he failed as a boss if his employees unionized. It comes off like ‘oh how did it get so bad that you felt this was the only option, why didn’t you just talk w/ me’, but he’s really just completely misunderstanding the purpose, function, and history of unions. He really just seems completely clueless as to his power dynamic as a boss in general.
It's the MSN messenger dude but he got old and tired.
@[email protected] omg what have i done @[email protected] @[email protected]
Same here, I'm downloading the video from the mirror to check it
I would have personally greatly appreciated that he would re-iterate the statements made in writing a week ago, if only that.
I know that "we the public" will always find something wrong about anything that is released, once it is, but given how the community at large was mostly outraged by the "Billet Labs incident" and the "Madison incident" (as opposed, to, say, the lack of employee benefits or egregious errors in data); I believe it would have been a bit more tactful not to dismiss yet again the former point with "procurement/logistics did nothing wrong" (or something of that effect) and entirely failing to mention the latter.
A verbatim quote of
"Regarding the allegations Madison Reeves posted on Twitter, as already announced a week ago, we are taking the allegations very seriously. Our HR team has begun conducting a thorough assessment of the allegations. We've also already begun combing our personnel files and past notes and correspondences to see if we can corroborate any of what's being said. Furthermore, we will also be hiring an outside investigator to look into the allegations and will commit to publishing the findings and implementing any corrective actions that may arise because of this. When we are ready, we will release a statement. For now, we would ask that we allow our team the time they need be as thorough as possible."
(or a shortened version) in video form, would have been absolutely plenty.
This paragraph I quoted is already legally "potentially problematic" (since I'm sure the reddit LTT moderation team kept the emails featuring this content, coming from an address belonging to LMG), and would have really contributed to making a statement about their seriousness.
Too many times I have witnessed accused parties make written commitments, only to retract/redact them and swipe the whole thing under the rug as soon as the storm had passed. Adding it to such an important video would certainly have been a testament to their commitment. I want to believe that Linus, and the LMG management carefully weighted whether or not to include such a statement in the video; I just wonder what was the rationale for not repeating an already public, already legally "potentially problematic" statement.
As someone in my 30s it sounds like every job I've had. Even moreso when it comes down to being a small business type job.
Not saying it's fine... I just wonder if there are other ways to go about changing things. It's obviously not just ltt that this goes on. It's obvious that it's been our culture and it's only beginning to change.
Personally I feel like a lot of people in society don't stand up for themselves and wait too long before taking a stand. That's probably where victim blaming stems from. And when I say speak up or stand up, I don't mean go tattling BEFORE you look the person fucking with you in the eyes and tell them not to ever treat you like that again. You gotta let people understand what's wrong, especially coming from a culture where all this is basically still considered normal. Otherwise the situation gets clouded by useless drama and emotional confusion that distract from change actually happening.
I feel like modern "oUtRaGe" culture, for lack of a better term, is becoming a set back in terms of moving forward with change. People act like they want criminals reformed instead of prisoned, but then gladly skip reform or teaching the lesson with a level head in these "outrage" situations. To me this shit is like watching politicians or sports teams... It's just entertainment for people... As long as they're on the winning side they really don't care about the change or the lesson.
Teach the lesson, when the lessons learned the class is over.
Also new CEO isn't working...
"As happy as I am that Terren is here, he can't make these changes alone [... many paragraphs later ...] That's also why we brought in an experienced manager, Terren who is offsite this week or I would have brought him in to chat with you guys as well"
So "all hands" in "crisis time"... And the CEO isn't there and hasn't been for the whole week? This is literally where a good CEO should be in house looking at EVERYTHING. Not away on a golf trip or whatever the fuck he's doing.
I think I'm on the same TL;DR... I might find a video interesting enough to watch for entertainment here and there... But at this point I will no longer treat anything I hear from them as actually data. And if the Madison thing turns out to be true, will simply hard block their channel.
True, but discoverability on Reddit was much much easier, I’ve found this to be one of Lemmys weakest attributes so far. I’m sure it’ll improve over time or somebody will make a search engine based on the instance map over on GitHub.
Hmm, that’s not a bad idea. I might give that a try at some point.
This’d usually be something a bot would do. I use one over on [email protected] to keep an eye on things but I don’t let it post/comment as I want to encourage the community to actively post and not just lurk.
But if posting news to all LTT communities is something the respective community members and moderators are happy to see, I could add that as a feature.
Even James Cameron couldn’t find it. https://media0.giphy.com/media/3o6ZtfJ5VcIvM31NKM/giphy.gif
Because all the rest of the comments are being super helpful, here’s the rundown for those not terminally online.
Another YouTube channel, Gamer’s Nexus, made this video talking about the inaccuracies in LTT’s lab data which also mentions a huuuuuge faux pas by LTT auctioning off a prototype model of a product from a company that only has that prototype. LTT also dunked hard on that prototype due to improper testing parameters that the company said that the product is not rated for. Some serious workspace allegations also came up around this time from a former LTT employee, but there’s no hard evidence.
Have fun on those public trackers with your wounded ego.
