I was just banned for a comment that was critical of kamala Harris, critical of Hamas, pro Palestinian civilians who are suffering genocide from the Israeli government
"Rule 1" and I didn't even use a slur or anything.
I got upset about some .ml moderation action and posted a similar post. At this point, I wouldn’t even give it a second thought; just ignore the instance completely.
If you bring a raccoon in the house, and it shits on the carpet and eats all your donuts, that’s on you, because it’s a raccoon and you involved yourself with it. I look at Lemmy.ml communities mostly the same way.
Yeah totally. I just instance blocked it to avoid stumbling in again.
Moreover I'm not missing ml I browse all and sometimes would find myself in a thread.
I more wanted to hear from non ml types if the opinion that "Hamas is a terrorist org and Palestine is a community of civilians experiencing genocide"
was somehow bigoted
Some instance owners have blocked ml and there are are occasional discussions of broader action.
I haven't fully blocked it yet as there are some neutral communities that are still fun. Anything related to news or politics is on my blocklist, for sure.
By definition, yes*. In reality, it fits a larger consensus and I personally don't think it's a big deal.
At the end of the day, mods do what they want. On ml specifically, they tend to have their own distinct narratives they follow and may kick-ban any dissent.
Posting on some ml communities can be interesting if you aren't up-to-date with the meta.
* You could be unreasonably attached to a belief from the viewpoints of others. It's subjective.
I guess that's just a general way to talk about a us politician missing the mark, then my own assessment of the better distinction. (Kamala called the entire protest a pro "Hamas" protest rather than a pro "Palestine" protest. Which sucks)
Rule 1 is about racial slurs, so really I'm posting to check if I used one.
Seems I didn't but there's dissent about weather Hamas is a terrorist org. Certainly not a racial slur on my part, but perhaps not aligned with the mod sentiment.
Edit compared to most comments there, and on Lemmy, my comment isn't especially heated.
Edit edit anyways thanks for the reply.
I figured a passionate "fuck the message about the protest, enunciate the important difference between the groups in play" was worthing of being direct and energetic. Y'all see it as too much and that's a good reply.
"Kamala called the entire protest a pro "Hamas" protest rather than a pro "Palestine" protest'
That's fucked.
"Rule 1 is about racial slurs, so really I'm posting to check if I used one"
You didn't, but the mods don't care about their rules over there(even more than on other instances). If they don't personally like it and they see it on their alts, ya banned.
I get plenty heated too, I get it, but in .ml it's like they're deliberately stoking the fires, posting misinformation, and don't care or are happy to see what burns.
