Welp, we let an idiot manchild run a whole country with the strongest military on earth under his command, and a nuclear arsenal button under his fucking finger. đ
I don't think anyone is objecting the like, people are objecting the fact that he made a new feature to hide likes on Twitter after this was found out. Looks like HE has an issue with him liking that stuff, not us.
Anime is mainstream now, so zoomers think it's "new". Thing is, the otaku culture predates the internet. I watched anime since the early 1980s. "Old people" can and do watch anime and read manga. It's not your zoomer sekrit club.
It's not so much that it's anime as it is Elon liking a comment about someone wanting to fuck heavily sexualized teens that look a very specific way...that happens to be in an anime.
Lemmy doesn't really hide it as they're visible to instance owners and shared through federation. Kbin also shows them so I can see the username/instance of the 7 people who upvoted your comment.
There is a way to see up votes on Lemmy if you're an instance admin, which isn't a super high hurdle. But point taken. Still a bit funny to see how directly his usage informs the mechanics of Twitter.

Imagine having all the money you could want and still being so self conscious of what other people think of you.
Just sleep on your pillow of money man lol
