This probably comes from the fact that we're more interested in criminal rights regardless of what the charge is and they just see an isolated case being defended and go wild over it. I haven't seen any MAP tolerance, but I have noticed that every time AI CP comes up, there's a top comment that's like "Regulating AI will accomplish NOTHING except give MEGACORPS a MONOPOLY on this HOLY tech that will SAVE us all (by letting me jack off to piss-poor deepfakes of Taylor Swift). We just need to accept that some teens are gonna make AI CP of their classmates and there's nothing we can do about it. After all, it's no worse than trolling -- and I assume that never hurt anyone, cuz I think that shit's hilarious".

I do not think you'll find anyone that thinks that criticizing pedophiles is a bad thing. I think a lot of people would say that you should probably do a lot more than just criticize them.
