Why is it so lonely in the fediverse
  • I thought defederation meant that you wouldn't be able to see the posts either? For example, quite a few Lemmy instances defederated lemmynsfw.com because they didn't want their users seeing NSFW content.

  • Picking up sacred only items?
  • I always pick up everything and salvage or sell, just so I don't have to worry about not having enough money or mats to do upgrades later.

I get the sentiment though. In World Tier 3 at lvl 55, your loot drops start getting capped pretty heavily in terms of stats. I was pretty much getting garbage loot, even if they were sacred, and I got to a point where I was just blindly salvaging all rares and most legendaries unless they had aspects that were right for my build.

  • Encouraged
  • Yeah, I just beat capstone yesterday and pretty much had the same impression as you. Elias's attack damage is crazy compared to the rest of the mobs in the dungeon, except maybe for those shouts from the elite...barbarians (forgot what they were called)?

I ended up just doing a few reknown completions for the paragon points and dipped a whole bunch of them into extra maximum life. After that I could tank Elias's hits just fine.

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • Not sure. Could have sworn there was a prototype Razor tablet that never came to market which had removable side controllers as well.

My issue with a hybrid device like that though is the lack of power compared to standard consoles. I really want a decently specced Steam Machine that's just a really good 1080p - 1440p gaming machine

  • Relying on the kindness of strangers
  • Haha I love these random moments with people. I always join in on events whenever I see someone doing them, even though I know the loot is probably gonna be crap for me. Early on, there were people who would blitz in and help me out with a tough event, and now I am the one blitzing in and helping others.

I do wish there was a "You're welcome" emote though. The closest we have is Cheers, but that just makes your character say "Impressive", which really isn't a cheer at all.

  • The official Blizzard forums for Diablo 4 are toxic as hell (pun intended)
  • A ton of gaming forums attract a lot of toxicity for some reason. If you ever browse the Steam Discussion forums for a multiplayer game, you'll see the same toxicity. I don't know what it is with gaming culture these days, but it's frankly awful. I can't even point it out without being labeled a boomer lol. People have this weird need to dunk on others. Whatever happened to just having fun with a game?

  • Diablo IV game settings PSA
  • I think they wanted that cinematic look and feel that low framerate gives you, but then it makes me puzzled why they didn't go with 24, which is the more standard film framerate and presumably what their pre-rendered cutscenes are running at.

Another theory is that maybe they were worried about certain cutscenes having an unstable framerate on lower end hardware?

  • Red Hat’s commitment to open source: A response to the git.centos.org changes
  • I am actually wondering whether they'll start considering a Flatpak version of Resolve. Seems like Blackmagic is reluctant to support anything other than RHEL and CentOS, and RedHat seems to be moving towards Flatpak anyways, given their recent move to stop shipping LibreOffice.

  • Blizzard found the solution for peak server loads /s
  • Interesting! How are you tracking this btw? I have a friend who's getting crazy rubber banding lag spikes even though he's on a gigabit connection over Ethernet and I am wondering if it would be an interesting exercise to see where those connections are going to.

  • Jeff Geerling stops development for Redhat
  • Whether the GPL says the redistributed code has to be a bug-for-bug compatible copy of RHEL is up for lawyers to decide. In my mind, saying "I am not running Software Foobar, I am running Software Foobar released a few months ago" seems like a silly distinction in this case, especially when talking about the health of FOSS.

  • Jeff Geerling stops development for Redhat
  • Which means it’s not bug-for-bug which is quite frankly critical to any dev, enterprise or otherwise...They may be targeting other distros, but it affects all developers who just want to test their applications.

With the free RHEL licenses, I don't think developers targetting RHEL are going to be affected at all by this, short of having to signup for an extra account. I also don't think that there's going to be many situations where a dev would accidentally redistribute in a way that's so detrimental to RedHat's business that it gets their license suspended.

You're right that its mainly targeted at downstream distros and that's where I think RedHat has a point. I think that it's entirely fair for RedHat to be annoyed that someone can build a RHEL bug-for-bug compatible Linux distro and then sell support licenses off of it, which is literally RHEL's business model.

That's just my two cents. There's really not many ways for a company to survive entirely off of open-source development like RedHat does and if we start saying that bug-for-bug compatible versions of their software have to exist, then we've essentially turned their business model into donations and it would lead to them dying anyways.

Don't get me wrong, I am not entirely happy about RedHat's changes, but I also don't see anyone in this thread suggesting a viable alternative for RedHat to pursue and they're just piling on the hate. It's like saying, "Hey RedHat, sorry you're dying. Thanks for all your hard work, okay good luck, bye."

Sorcs of Lemmy! What builds have you been having the most fun with?

Personally, for levels before 50, I had been using an admittedly unresearched, master-of-none build with:

    1. Frost Nova
    2. Hydra
    3. Inferno
    4. Arc Lash
    5. Chain Lightning
    6. Teleport

    Enchantments:

    1. Fireball
    2. Blizzard, cuz why not

It was a ton of fun vacuuming up mobs, freezing them, and then using chain lightning to make them explode like little grenades right on top of each other, but it was admittedly VERY weak against single bosses.

After I finished the campaign, I switched to a much more min-maxed Ice Shards lucky hit build that's just been melting enemies like crazy:

    1. Teleport
    2. Frost Nova
    3. Flame Shield
    4. Deep Freeze
    5. Frost Bolt
    6. Ice Shards

    Enchantments:

    1. Fireball
    2. Ice Shards

I don't have all the gear yet to avoid mana depletion and my barriers need work but its getting there.

Anyways, I just wanted to ask what you guys were doing with your Sorc builds to see what others have been enjoying :)

Will Lemmy 0.18 fix the issue where comments don't get replicated to other instances?

I've been noticing that a lot of my comments on posts aren't being replicated to lemmy.world and sopuli. Does 0.18 have a fix for these federation issues? It really detracts from the experience when half of the people in a thread aren't receiving your messages and vice versa.

Diablo IV Campfire Chat - June 2023

Here's some info about the upcoming patch and season 1 changes that you guys might be interested in.

Can someone clarify the upcoming reknown reset for D4 Season 1 though? So I was listening to Asmongold react to the D4 campfire discussion and it seems like Blizzard plans to partially reset the reknown bar every season. If they're going to take away the reknown rewards that you've already earned, does that mean that they're going to straight up break the builds of our current characters or will it only be reset for new Season 1 characters? Still, having to refarm the last 3 tiers of reknown is going to be a pain in the ass.

What's the best way to automatically delete all my posts and comments from Reddit?

I am increasingly fed up with Reddit's attitude towards this whole thing. What's the best way to delete all my posts and comments? I have very few posts so those are easy to delete by hand, but I must have thousands of comments in various subreddits and it'd be a pain in the ass to delete them one by one. Is there a tool that makes this easier?
