Disable or auto-collapse inline images.

Coming over from boost from reddit, which only shows gifs in comments as a small square (tappable to show the .gif), I am absolutely heartbroken to see that Lemmy boost actually supports them. I've never wanted to see a reaction gif in a comment. Never will. It's IMO the worst feature Reddit ever implemented and something lemmy should've never copied.

I'd greatly appreciate it if there was a setting to show inline stills as the target link, given that they're sometimes useful and relevant to the discussion, and a setting to either show in comment .gifs as a little square/target link. Even better would be the option to treat comments with .gifs in them as if the user was blocked - i.e. not show them at all.

An option to hide anime content

I would love an option to hide all anime content just like we can hide NSFW content.

14

option to merge or roll up simultaneous cross-posts in the feed.

I subscribe to a bunch of communities and often there is a cross post with the same title and the same URL link across four or five of them at once. This usually results in a screen or two of the same post repeating for me, and I usually just find the one with the most commentary to check out.

It would be nice just to do that automatically, and shrink to a single line or otherwise "fold in" the other cross posts to the highest commentary post so they don't clog my feed. Maybe a few "related" lines under the body of the post when you go into it, similar to the indication that it's been cross posted.

Thoughts?

Moderation - Ban time

It would be great if we can get a option to adjust the amount of time someone is banned for when we ban them. Right now I believe it is set to permaban.

2

can we get a "show context" button on single comment views?

It's annoying to have to click "view all the comments" and then scroll to find where the one you were looking at is. The other thing I've done is click the permalink button to see it in a browser to find the context...

2

Option to mark posts as read after voting on it.

It would be helpful, for those of us who have pictures load in our feed, to have the option to have those posts marked as read after voting.

This would eliminate the need to click on every picture to use other "marked as read" features.

This platform have extensive use of positive and negative votes

I think Boost should show both positive and negative scores on posts, comments. On this platform it matters.

BTW unlike the populist, commercial platform you can't really censor whatever you don't agree. Which is a good thing.

change the color of tags for users

I've been using tags on users who I've interacted with to help me realize if I've interacted with someone before. It would be nice to change the color from green to others, even if it's a prechosen color palette.

Please remove down votes on instances that have them disabled

it's an eyesore to use the app with the down vote icons since my instance disabled them. when you click on them they work but obviously it doesn't actually do anything (the animation works but the down vote isn't registered since they're off on the instance)

it would be nice to hide them altogether like in eternity for lemmy.

thanks :3

HD on Zoom

Hopefully this is a simple request.

Give us a setting to enable HD on Zoom. Once enabled, when a low res image is zoomed in, boost will automatically switch to HD.

This would allow us to choose which images are downloaded in HD. It would help speed up image preloading and save on overall data usage.

Thanks for reading.

Mark as read while scrolling

lemmy.world [Feature Request] Mark as read while scrolling - Lemmy.World

Hello, Ive used boost for reddit for a long time and really enjoyed it. Hello, Ive used boost for reddit for a long time and really enjoyed it. I would like to use Boost for Lemmy in the same way as my main app, but whenever I open it multiple times on the same day, after like 10 posts I get the same posts I already read before. This is really the only thing keeping me from switching from Connect. Hope this reaches you and have a great week.

Edit: If we cant get this feature, is there any other way to get new stuff to my feed? As is I can only browse Boost for 10min per day.

Post and comment gestures

I made another post about how the only keeping me from using boost is not having the image above the title and everything else, but I forgot about gestures. Gestures are the primary thing keeping me from using Boost. I can get over the title being above the post's content but not having gestures is the real annoyance.

I'd like the gestures to be basically the same as the Sync for Lemmy's gestures or Connect for Lemmy's gestures. Basically, from right to left, a short swipe can upvote, a long can be a downvote, and an even longer swipe can save/bookmark the post, or for comments the even longer swipe is for replying

The actions don't have to be exclusively what I said above. It would be great if they were customizeable.

Blur level

For NSFW images, in card mode where images are shown in full size, the default level of blur allows others to see the essence of the image. It would be nice to be able to increase the level of blur further. Perhaps three levels would be good.

1

Option to move title bar and stuff connected to the from the top to the bottom (above the up/down vote buttons, share button, etc..

title

I love boost for reddit, but this is literally the only thing keeping me from using boost.

External link validation

As an option, when I select a link in the app, I would like a popup that will show the link address in full and to confirm my choice to visit the site.

6

Consistent Color Fill Image backgroud

Right now, for images which are not full screen, the background is completely black. I think having the fill color match the theme color will make the app feel more seamless.

Post Filtering like Boost for Reddit?

Unless I missed it somehow, can we have a post filter that allows us to exclude posts with images/gifs/text only etc., like the old Boost could?

2

Option to Swap Tap and Hold Actions on Comments

i.e. Create an option to allow single tap to fold comments, and hold on a comment to bring up the buttons underneath. I'm more likely to want to fold comments than to up/down vote or reply to a comment, so I would rather have that as the tap action.

2

Long hold on thumbnails to display full screen while held

Really liking Boost for Lemmy, but missing this feature that we had in Joey. You could long hold any thumbnail, and it would display the image/gif full screen until you let go. It was a great way to "peek" at images/gifs without always tapping, swiping back, repeat. It even worked on link type content, displaying full screen whatever the main image was for the article.

3

Ability to edit URL when editing post

I edited a post recently in Boost, but noticed that I was unable to change the URL that the post was referring to. However, I was able to edit the URL using the web interface.

Side request: Could we also get a way to create a post using a URL and a photo? I've noticed that some URLs don't come up with a decent photo for the post, so it would be nice to be able to provide my own in that case.

I really love this app. Thanks for the great work.
