Cats alone in a room with an open flame is a recipe for disaster, don't do it.
(this cat had good instincts, but many cats don't seem to understand what fire is and would not react this way)
Jfc, I couldn't watch past the point where the fire catches even if the cat made it, just imagining the panic, it's a no from me..
But yes, this is a perfect illustration of my point.
yes. what we have here is a photo of a cat, and a photo of a woman who just clogged their sink drain in a very bad way. the story of the "out of hand candle" is very clearly not real, this is honestly the first lemmy post I've seen similar to the ones that made me stop going on reddit
Lady's lucky the cat didn't go up, run around, and burn the whole place down.
I like candles...but I only buy the big jars and won't leave one unattended at all until the flames are below the top of the jar. Can't imagine using tiny candle containers like this when you have a cat.
If the surface of the wax overheats the whole surface can catch fire not just the wick.
Wax, when vaporized, is highly flammable. If the surface gets hot enough it starts vaporizing.
This more often happens when the wax is low and more heat is trapped by the sides of the jar. Or if you're a stupid kid and try to heat things with a candle.
