FCC Probe Into NPR, PBS Denounced as 'Attack on the Freedom of the Press'.
U.S. press freedom advocates this week forcefully condemned Republican Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr's investigation into National Public Radio and Public Broadcasting Service that could lead to stripping them of government funding.
"The FCC chair is clearly undertaking an effort to bully and intimidate independent journalism, which is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes where democracy is under siege," said one critic.

Considering how quickly NPR prostrated themselves to Trump as soon as the FCC inquiry started I'd say the press isn't all that free.
What did they do specifically? I’m trying to figure out how much longer i can still consider npr a reliable source.
I’m usually not big on hate and it seems like a lot of wasted effort. And I can generally understand where people are coming from even if I don’t agree with them.
But not this guy. I fucking hate him. I have never hated a person more in my entire life. He is the most useless piece of the most vile excrement and I will relish the day he is “shuffled off his mortal coil”.

In my opinion, I’m not sure this country will last 4 years of this. I had forgotten the daily rage I felt in his first term and this seems worse. And we are less than three months in. And god forbid RFK is confirmed and we have another pandemic. It will not end well.
I can't wait for all of the republicans at work to be told what to think. I'll enjoy hearing how they try to sell me on PBS being biased.

"I have asked the FCC's Enforcement Bureau, with assistance from the FCC's Media Bureau, to initiate an investigation into the underwriting announcements and related policies of NPR, PBS, and their broadcast member stations."
Such an investigation is long overdue. My local NPR station broadcasts nothing but commercials.
I listen to NPR all the time and I have never once heard a commercial.

It's got to be. Listening to NPR has spoiled me to the point where I can't listen to regular music stations anymore because of the commercials.
sadly, nothing new-- the last administration was directly funding and covering for israel's extermination campaign- well over 200 journalists killed in the last year.. but yes, this is more of the same in a more domestic and less murderous sense.
