I am in the process of moving, and found my old collection of Star Trek cards. No idea when I actually got these, it was mid-late 90s, and I have the majority of the 120 cards I know about (as well as some bonus cards)
This is card 001. It comes in English, with 5 (01A-01E) extras in other languages.
They come in various flavors, hilighting important cast, crew, characters, ships, etc.
That first picture is a season 3 promo shot. It’s kind of weird to me how Dr. Crusher is the only one wearing blue.
And I think Troi’s jumper looks like the maroon one from the show. That whole image looks horribly color balanced, and very over saturated, to the point they made it look as red as the uniforms.
Everyone also looks very tired. Like they
had them get up at 4 in the morning to do the photo op before shooting.
Honestly I can't think of a time she wore a uniform color "tight" outfit. It might just have been for promotional material, or during a special episode because the only times I know she wore uniform colors was after Jellico ordered her into a uniform.
Troi wore a uniform in the pilot, also, in the form of one of those "skant" tube dress things which mercifully got phased out quite quickly. Both that and her standard uniform were the blue/teal med/sci color, not red for command.
I can't find any source for this, so I am just making it up: It would not surprise me at all to learn that Troi was originally supposed to wear red at some point during character development but this was probably changed to offset her visually from the other two red command uniforms she'd be lounging around next to all the time. She did have a cranberry unitard thing at one point, but never a bright red one like this, at least insofar as my limited nerddom allows me to recall.
Methinks this promo shot was doctored significantly anyway (I mean, look at Wesley's face). Some goober probably just grabbed Troi's dress with the old lasso tool and started messing with the channel sliders. Why, though, is anyone's guess. (Worf is rocking his chainmail sash thingy and Riker has his beard, so this has got to be at least post season 2.)
I've never seen it before. I think you're right that it was promotional material only, but clearly not all of them. I had a TNG lunchbox when I was in preschool (basically a nerd since birth), and even on that she's wearing the "cheerleader outfit".
