Ever since I was a child I love vitamin pills wether they were the tangy C or Flintstone vitamins. Present day, the habit stuck for one of them and I love sucking on the tangy Vitamin C tablets throughout the day. Sometimes I take more than recommended for daily consumption and it does lead to some issues for me but I just can’t stop because they taste so good. Honestly, these taste better than most candy for me. I buy a few every month and just indulge myself. These tablets feel like the pure ecstasy to me.
I couldn’t really find any other threads like this so I wanted to see if there was anyone else who also indulged on these.
For me it's Nature Made because I'm strange. They were the last to use the old fungal C purification method that always left the pills tasting a little yeasty and I kind of miss that.
If we're talking pure orange flavor then Thorne, but they are a bit expensive to eat like tic tacs.
I mean I definitely get it with the citrus ones. Don't imagine there's a problem if you keep it under the max and try to keep it well under if you're eating them daily. You're probably getting C from other things you're not measuring.
Some candies that are somewhat close.... Sprees, Bottle Caps, Smarties, Sweettarts...
If you want to end the obsession; one thing to try is to find one of those immuno boosters or vitamin C things that are meant to be mixed into a glass of water... Just try and chew it. (Keep water available, but chew it like a vitamin)
Heck those little fuckers are delicious! Full of sugar and tangy acetic acid!
Your body will flush the excess C if you stay well hydrated, but be aware of the sugar, you don't want diabetes as you age. Rinse your teeth to get off the sugar and acid. If you are living so clean that this is what you have to confess, go to your local hospital blood bank and give them a pint every couple months.
First, I'm not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt.
Vitamin C is water soluble and even if you eat a ton of it you will flush it out in your urine in 24-48 hours but as others have mentioned, you should hydrate to compensate for the increased urination.
Secondly, try chewing orange rind, I get a lot of the same from that without the risk of dehydration. You can scrape out the white pith a bit if you don't like it but I like the fiber that comes with it.
