Etsy's new Adult Nudity and Sexual Content policy, which was quietly published at the end of June, bans sex toys, porn and other adult products as of July 29.
I mean, obviously, this is horrible. This is someone's livelihood falling victim to the unsettling trend of dispassionate corporations unilaterally instituting zero-tolerance policies on sexual content, just to squeeze an extra couple bucks out of puritanical advertisers that people don't even like having around in the first place, and trying to pass it off as "safety". It's transparently regressive and does next-to-nothing to benefit the end user and absolutely nothing to benefit creators, and barely even benefits the corporation itself enough to be a justifiable decision — just ask Tumblr, OnlyFans, and the late Gfycat how their adult content bans worked out. It's capitalism at its worst, aside from all those other worse parts of capitalism. It's a very serious and concerning situation and I extend my sympathies to the creators affected, and all the handcrafted marital aid enthusiasts whom this decision will see deprived.
I'm sure I'll get crucified for this, but it needs to be said that the rapid swing towards puritanical values in our society is largely because too many people can't behave themselves recently, when they are given the freedom to express themselves openly.
People can't behave themselves "recently"? Do you think there was a magic time in history where humans ever "behaved"? As far as I am aware, people have been fucking since they were biologically capable of it and many societies haven't been prude about it. (The Kanamara [Penis] Festival is probably a great example.)
The reason you got down voted is not because you said something controversial, it's because it's a comment that makes zero sense and is extremely out of touch.
So, you hate fun, and you're stupid enough to let out of context images influence the way you think about whole people groups. Huge point you're making here
Whichever ones people obsess over, to the exclusion of all other social responsibilities, are the ones which get my scorn. Apply that to whichever category/categories you feel appropriate.
You are worried about people who don't exist, doing things that never happen. or happen in such a small number that they are not worthy of thought.
The people in a pride parade covered in rainbow dildos are going to work Monday, mowing their lawn, and paying their taxes. They are not some cartoon character running around like 'captain dildoman' all day, every day.
That fucking simple. Calling out LGBT pride as some kind of indecent or immodest exposure while choosing to remain completely blind about the hypocritical normalized deluge of heterosexual sex being sold to children 24/7 in all forms of media and advertising that pride is partially a criticism of? Ridiculous.
Bigot logic tends not to hold up under scrutiny. That’s why they play this cute little game pretending to dance around the issue, “just asking questions” or using the very children they want to indoctrinate as a shield for their blatant projection and hypocrisy.
I'll gladly say it loudly: The extreme over sexualization of media which was introduced through the Internet, and now persists under the shield of witless pawns because they painted it with a rainbow pattern, has been doing massive and persistent damage to our social fabric. This was in no way normal before the Internet, and it's appalling that so few people are willing to even acknowledge the problem.
You may be confused and misled @[email protected], but thank you for the opportunity to say it clearly so you're not confused as to where my opinions actually come from.
