Looking for breakfast ideas
I think I'm ready to give vegan a try, but I'm struggling with breakfast ideas. Mostly I'd meal prep egg and bacon burritos or just have some toast with jam.
I used to be a cereal person but after having my gallbladder removed I developed an intolerance to lactose. And I haven't found any good alternatives for milk or cheese that I like, so I've basically cut them out of my diet. Plus most cereal is loaded with sugar, and...
I found out yesterday that I'm prediabetic and my cholesterol is a little high. So, I'm trying to move away from animal products and sugar.
I will occasionally have toast with peanut butter and banana on it, but that's so calorie dense, I only eat it on days I know I'll be doing a lot of physical activities. Most days I sit at a desk for 8-10 hours.
So really the only other thing I can think of is oatmeal. And eating a bowl full of something hot is the last thing I want to do after my morning walk. I'm in Texas so it's hot even when I go out at 5 AM.
I'm looking for ideas that can, preferably, be meal prepped or take less than 5 minutes to make. But I'm open to any ideas. Thanks!

Best gravy for biscuits?
I make gravy for potatoes/rice using bouillon cubes, but IDK what to put over my biscuits!
Any suggestions? (preferably on cheaper side so can eat it on the regular)

Old, but we all have to learn these.
Alt text can't be formatted. Have it here
Things I've learned since going vegan
- You can slice someone's throat and still love them.
- The word "need" can also mean "could easily live without but do kinda want".
- The word "humane" can mean literally anything you want it to.
- It's ok to call people out for harmful behaviour unless that behaviour involves bacon.
- Plants definitely feel pain and lawns scream when you mow them.
- Crop workers are exploited but slaughterhouse workers definitely aren't. No exploitation here, no sir.
- Meat is the only food that contains protein.
- "Found the vegan" is still funny and original the millionth time.
- Before humans came along, cows were just wandering around with massive udders praying for someone to invent industrialised agriculture.
- Steak is cheaper than beans, rice, pasta, and canned vegetables.
- While 99% of all meat comes from factory farms, no one eats that meat.
- Everyone only buys local, organic, humane, Dalai Lama approved meat.
- Everyone has an uncle who owns a farm straight out of a 1950's Americana magazine
- Everyone has a degree in nutrition and evolutionary biology.
- Everyone knows that one guy who went vegan and almost died.
- Everyone is free to talk about their identity, beliefs and interests without being shamed for them. Unless they're vegan. Vegans can fuck off.

My other favorite is that veganism is for white people.
People love to call veganism ‘privileged,’ while conveniently ignoring the fact that the only reason animal products are even close to being accessible for the average consumer is because they’re factory farmed, slaughtered and packed by grossly underpaid labourers working in dangerous conditions, and then massively subsidised by all of our taxes.
- www.hilltimes.com Nearly $2-billion in government subsidies does little to improve animal welfare
A quick scan of these subsidies, available on Agriculture Canada’s website, reveals that 22 of the largest ones—together amounting to more than $1.9-billion—were provided to animal agribusiness, including the dairy, pork, beef, and chicken industries.

Vegetarian Society Letter From 1933 Describes Ox Roast As ‘Grave Offense
plantbasednews.org Vegetarian Society Letter From 1933 Describes Hog Roast As 'Grave Offense'The Vegetarian Society called on Bristol's Mayor to cancel a public ox roast in 1933, almost 100 years ago, to avoid causing "grave offence"
For extra context on why this article brings up vegetarians it is because veganism didn't exist before 1944.

Meat is expensive.
No but like seriously, why are vegan and vegetarian options always MORE expensive at restaurants. Whenever I cook my self, the meat is BY FAR the most expensive part of any meal. Meanwhile stuff like soy strips are DIRT CHEAP, not to mention they last basically forever!
The canteen I go to for lunch actually sells the meatless meals for 2/3 of the price, always a taunting reminder. Like hell yea, that's how ya convert me!

How to feed your dog vegan
Do you guys have good resources on how to feed your dog vegan?
There are a lot of pages online that simply say "consult an advisor" who will calculate what your dog needs. I'm not bad in maths, I could calculate it myself if I'd knew what the dog needs. I can look into commercial dog food ingrediants but there are declarations like "minerals" without any further specificiations. Moreover, I eat a huge variety in differrent vegetables and food in general, yet my dog shall always eat the same according to vegan complete feed. Moreover, I can not properly judge whether a feed is good because the information is missing.
Where does the nutritionist get his information from? There must be someone who has studied the needs of a dog based on size and breed and created a formula such that you can calculate the servings.
I've looked into books on amazon and the comments are horrible. There's nothing on libgen and google scholar doesn't yield appropriate results.

Ultra processed foods unhealthy even if plant-based
amp.cnn.com Not all plant-based foods are equal. This type can raise the risk of heart attack and early death | CNNEating plant-based ultraprocessed foods raise the risk of heart disease and early death, but there’s an easy fix, a new study found.
plant based alternatives are pretty good for reducing calories or inflammation in my experience.
Ultra processed foods are unsurprisingly (but disappointingly) still bad.

A Pound of Hamburger Meat Would Cost $30 Without Tax Payer Subsidies
The United States federal government allocates a staggering $38 billion annually to prop up the meat and dairy industries. These subsidies significantly reduce the price of meat products, including hamburgers. Research from 2015 reveals that these subsidies slash the price of a pound of hamburger meat from $30 to the $5 we see today
