Anon recommends a cast iron pan
  • I fucking hate cast iron pans. It's way too easy to absolutely ruin one. But more importantly, it's absolutely impossible to cool one down. If you determine that the pan is too hot and your shit is burning, sing your prayers, cus that shit is burning! What's that? You can put it in the oven straight from the stove? So neat, but like, I have a pot for that. Also never ever made a dish that asked for such a maneuver.

  • The Most Loved Digital Audio Streaming Platforms.
  • It's not included if you don't have Amazon Prime. Not sure how it's in the states, but my experience with Amazon is absolutely horrid. Both in terms of service and the knockoff products they promote and sell.

In other words, Music Prime is more expensive than Spotify while being marginally better than any other free music platform. And Music Unlimited is literally just Spotify, but more expensive.

Even if I actually had Amazon Prime, I don't really see the appeal... Even Spotify is a hard sell, I only have it because my gf shares it with me though a family thingy.

  • That's All Folks!
  • The hell ya taking about? Liberals are center, they go along with anybody as long as you "compromise". I personally find it hilarious that both the right and left complain about liberals being in bed with the other side.

And tankies aren't really left for the same reason nazis (national SOCIALIST) aren't really left. Wonder how it came to be that nazis are the face of extreme right and tankies are the face of extreme left, despite them both being totalitarian fascists. In Germany the nazis were literally stealing the communist vote, they're building on the same appeal. The idealogy of "we're more deserving of life, because..." doesn't really care about the because part. Left/right politics are irrelevant in the face of totality.

  • Conservatives don't understand how to human.
  • Go cleaning staff! Also other slave like jobs. It's a little bit sad that to make money you'd need to actively make your life worse, but it's a great starting point. It would also make the story billionaires make up about working hard have a real point.

  • Landlords are parasites on society
  • It really is... Me and my gf are two software developers living together, AKA income definitely isn't an issue. And yet almost half of our collective income goes to rent. To be fair we are renting a 3 room flat, and it was our choice to splurge a bit for now. But when I think about the future, starting a family, suddenly a flat like this doesn't seem as outrageous of a desire. To actually meet the 30%, we'd need a much smaller flat, each on our own would only afford a single room. But our incomes are comfortably above average, SO HOW THE FUCK DOES ANYBODY ELSE AFFORD ANYTHING AT ALL?!?

  • “Model collapse” threatens to kill progress on generative AIs
  • Because the people with power funding this shit have pretty much zero overlap with the people making this tech. The investors saw a talking robot that aced school exams, could make images and videos and just assumed it meant we have artificial humans in the near future and like always, ruined another field by flooding it with money and corruption. These people only know the word "opportunity", but don't have the resources or willpower to research that "opportunity".

  • Elon Musk Is a National Security Risk
  • As if running the largest scam in us history wasn't convincing enough, we need more proof? Lock the fucker up! People have gone to jail for MUCH less than what this fucking monster did! Same with Trump! None should be above the law!

  • I redid the meme with what hurts me
  • Can't speak for the science libraries as I've never used em, and I'll gladly just blindly accept that as truth, but for everything else it's always a pain in the ass. For being designed to "run on anything" it sure is funny that 90% of the time I download a python app it doesn't fucking work and requires me to look up and manually setup a specific environment for it. Doesn't help that the error messages are usually completely random and unrelated to this...

I always dread when some fucking madman makes the installer for their app in python, knowing it'll probably fail... God forbid it's a script that's supposed to modify something else. Always a good time for reflection upon the choices that led me to this point.

Even my old scripts I kept around for sentimental value. Half of those don't work either, and I can't be bothered to figure out what version I made em for.

I tried my best to scrub python from my pc out of principle, but as you say, it's soo common my distro uses it as a dependency, fucking bullshit!

  • "Former gifted" just means some adults used to tell em they gonna make it big because they're special. And then in adulthood they struggle, either because they aren't actually gifted or the "gift" is just autism and nobody cares now that they're adults.

  • Rafah
  • Well "Afghans" doesn't really mean much. It's not really a collective group with any great unifying force. Too many different aspirations. Many clearly no minding who's in power. It's nowhere near as extreme as the situation in Israel. Definitely don't wanna downplay the mess that are the Afghan conflicts. But it's just not comparable at all.

  • Rafah
  • Iran has plenty of money and guns to pass around. Proxy wars are the main course for the modern history of the middle east. I find saying that they won't find a way to bite back extremely ignorant of the reality on the ground and all of human history really... Most revolts were made by desperate people that had literally nothing on their own, either had to receive it from a third party of questionable intent or steal it.

  • Rafah
  • Definitely a proportionate response. Doing their best to reproduce carpet bombing in a world where carpet bombing no longer works without using a nuke. Takes a lot of effort, effort better spent elsewhere...

  • OpenAI releases o1, its first model with ‘reasoning’ abilities
  • Assuming I'm an android fan for pointing out that Apple does shady PR. I literally mention that Apple devices have their selling point. And it isn't UNMATCHED PERFORMANCE or CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY as their adds seems to suggest. It's a polished experience and beautiful presentation; that is unmatched. Unlike the hot mess that is android. Android also has its selling points, but this reply is already getting long. Just wanted to point out your pettiness and unwillingness to read more than a sentence.

  • OpenAI releases o1, its first model with ‘reasoning’ abilities
  • Big leap for OpenAI, as in a kind of ML model they haven't explored yet. Not that big for AI in general as others have done the same with similar result. Until they can make graphs where they look exceptionally better compared to other models than their own, it's not that much of a breakthrough.

  • OpenAI releases o1, its first model with ‘reasoning’ abilities
  • Dang, OpenAI just pulled an Apple. Do something other people have already done with the same results (but importantly before they made a big fuss about it), claim it's their innovation, give it a bloated name so people imagine it's more than it is and produce a graph comparing themselves to themselves, hoping nobody will look at the competition.

Just like Apple, they have their own selling point, but instead they seem to prefer making up stuff while forgetting why people use em.

On a side note they also pulled an Elon. Where's my AI companion that can comment on video in realtime and sing to me??? Ya had it "working" "live" a couple months ago, WHERE IS IT?!?

  • Meat is expensive.

No but like seriously, why are vegan and vegetarian options always MORE expensive at restaurants. Whenever I cook my self, the meat is BY FAR the most expensive part of any meal. Meanwhile stuff like soy strips are DIRT CHEAP, not to mention they last basically forever!

The canteen I go to for lunch actually sells the meatless meals for 2/3 of the price, always a taunting reminder. Like hell yea, that's how ya convert me!
