Download the gerneric linux version. Then un-compress it and copy the contents into your system discord directory. Maybe make a back-up copy first, just in case.
Sounds like it could be a 'tortured phrase'.

But I can't for the life of me figure out what it's supposed to be.
Distributions may support specific kernels longer than their 'official' end-of-life. For example, Ubuntu 22.04 will use the 5.15 kernel until April of 2027 even though it’s technically end-of-life in October 2026.
It's a good point, Google is missing the boat in terms of how people use search engines, i.e. as navigational rather than question question answering. But also, calling SGE a chatbot is missing the point of what Google is trying to do.
I think I scared my wife and kid I laughed so hard.
Something else to be aware of is compromised LinkedIn profiles. I was recently contacted by a very real looking profile on LinkedIn, who was supposedly recruiting for a very real position at a very real company that the profile actually worked for. Red flags were:
- Bad english/spelling in messages
- Compensation a little too good to be true
- Sounded too easy to 'get' the job
- Person's job title had nothing to do with recruitment until very recently
- 'Application form' they sent me looked a little bogus
They wanted me to fill out a form with all my info., including SSN, and send photocopies of my ID. When I asked for an email address at the company in question to send everything to, they ghosted me.
Yikes, that one almost got me. Advice here is to always manually 'two factor' identify people who contact you out of the blue.
Safe hunting folks.
Yep, my kid is just starting to fool around with Minecraft and every time we play, I launch the client from the command line. Planting the seeds...
Nice! I have an Upton Sinclair first edition 'Little Steel'. Looks to be the same binding.
Congrats, first kid or just first girl? Mine is 1.5 years, enjoy the quiet times and I hope you are getting some sleep!
Ok, so that specific *@ has some long history I'm not aware of. Still raises the question - I thought the point of this type of thing was that you don't have to deal with derelict communities 'run' by absent moderators - you can just go somewhere else? Right? Or am I just being a jerk here.
Why do you care so much?
Most of the internet was already BS before 'working' LLMs, where do you think the models learned it from? I think what you want is a crap detector, and I'm with you. Any ideas good ideas and I'll donate my time to work on it.
Nice, I dunno about too big. Looks like a sweet watch to me.
Think that will do the trick - just double checked and mine is running on a xeon E3-1290, that's a Sandy Bridge chip, so think 2nd gen! It's got 16 GB memory and an SSD and is perfectly happy running the matrix server, a minecraft server for my kid, immich for photos, a wireguard tunnel for external ssh access and an rsync server for backups of other machines. Even still has some legs left for video streaming and light gaming.
When I saw the title, my first thought was circular dichroism, not compact disk! Cool example spectra anyhow.
I have been doing exactly this for the past six months or so - if you aren't concerned about federation and are happy with a small private server, the hardware requirements are minimal. I run mine on a ~2010 era Dell 'SOTR' edition (side of the road) that I got for about 10 bucks at a junk shop.
This is too verbose to be usefull. The narrative style makes it hard to extract information. The reader is duely impressed with the writer's knowledge, but that impression is about all that is gained by the read - 'I'm smart and know how this should be done".
Organize and emphasize the result and the method to obtain it.
Nope, not at all. Uninstalled weeks ago. Actively avoid in search results. Had been subconsciously looking to move on for a long time. See ya later, better things to do and places to be.
YSK about Wargames
Like choose your-own-ending novels and BASH? What would you do if you suddenly had ssh access to someone else's server? This is a really fun corner of the net. Excellent resource/trainer/time-waster. When I talk to people from the DIY linux/selfhosting/FOSS communities, many folks haven't heard of it.
What other cool stuff do you know about? Think it sucks and want to tell me why?
Note: I am not at all associated with this project - just think it's a valuable stop on the good 'ole internet.
Posts made in one lemmy app not showing up in another
I have been trying out various lemmy apps for android and have come across an annoying quirk. If I make a post using one lemmy app (liftoff) it does not appear in my profile on another lemmy app (Jerboa). Same seems to be true for comments and subscriptions.
I am not sure if this is the expected behavior. Maybe I am missing something or misunderstanding how my profile's data is stored.
My intuition says that if I am logged into the same server with the same user my profile should be the same, regardless of the app I am using. Is this not the case? If so, why not?
Thanks for your insight in advance!
Strong aurora borealis in the northern US this thursday
Forecasts of auroral activity, updated daily.
The Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is predicting a geomagnetic storm for Wednesday and Thursday of this week (July 12th & 13th). Strong northern lights may be visible between 10 PM and 2 AM in parts of the northern US, especially from points of high elevation, clear views of the northern horizon and low light polution.
