Just switch to Jerboa. Yes, it's a bit janky, but endure. It's well worth it.
Edit: forgot to write, a place where Jerboa icon is is the place where Infinity stood for 4 years. Same phone, yeah.
I wish, but I’m on iOS and the equivalent, Mlem, is straight alpha jank. I actually turned the spot Apollo used to be in, into a folder containing both the web shortcut, Mlem and also a shortcut to Lemmy Community Browser and use all three for different things for now due to feature disparity
Just use your web browser on mobile. It works pretty damn well. Eventually we'll get an Apollo-level equivalent, but the web browser works SOOOOOO much better on Lemmy as compared to reddit. The responsiveness and themes work great.
I'm working on a iOS client that's similar to Apollo, with the swiping upvote (my favorite feature lol). So if in a few days you want an alpha invite I can send it to you. It's already at a point where it's on par with Mlem but I'd like to spend a few days fine tuning a few things to get it to a place I would daily drive it.
I would but there's a few things I need to keep it for, like art commissions. But I'm staying on Lemmy the interactions are so much better. Hopefully we get a bunch of community migrations so I can get rid of Reddit completely.
It's definitely been a very interesting situation, in that it's made many of us take a long hard look at what we are with concern to reddit... addicted. I expect some will rail against that classification but make no mistake, these apps / sites are designed to be addictive (iirc they call it 'stickiness').
As well as relentless scrolling throughout the day, I found I was wasting hours feeding into my depression doomscrolling before even getting out of bed. Regardless of what happens next, I'm not installing the reddit app or reinstalling my 3rd party choice (Infinity). Surprise, I'm now getting up much more quickly and starting the day in a better frame of mind.
I wonder how many users they've permanently lost through this debacle?
It's just that I have to scroll so far to get new content. And I keep seeing old content that are two days old that stays on the top... I really to new stuff to crawl up!😅
Once the internet was bunches of helpful info on weird places. Then search engines helped fix that... hopefully we'll have an equivalent to find info on Lemmy soon
I did the same. Sync can live in the depths of my app drawer for a while. Muscle memory just got me to write my first comment here. 🙂
The fact Reddit dominates the useful results of so many searches is a problem. That won't work as well with Lemmy because good posts live on different instances.
I deleted Apollo when the blackout started and haven’t used Reddit since. But I’m in med school and should be getting results of step 1 tomorrow 😞 normally I’d be doomscrolling r/step1 and there doesn’t seem to be an equivalent yet. So for anyone reading this: 😭
I'm doing exactly what you suggested...but man it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I am both figuring this out and completely confused. But I was that way on Reddit years ago.
I only use Jerboa now. It has taken the place of my favorite reddit app, Joey. Though it is a little lacking that still requires me to go to my homepage. Usually to add new communities to my feed.
Never really used the official reddit website. old.reddit.com was just to bright, and the modern version is... Well, garbage.
Hehe, removing Relay was the first thing I did, because even if I just closed it I would tap it out of boredom and habit. But I'll just delete my users and uninstall the app
