Some people like to complain that politics is everywhere and since they like to stick their heads in the sand and go "LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU", they prefer not to see political memes, or memes with political figures that aren't political in nature.
Some people down vote popular things because they are popular.
Some people just have a hate boner for a specific user and sometimes follow them around to down vote anything they post.
And statistically there's probably at least one republican around trying not to act like a lizard in a chinchilla suit.

Didn't downvote this myself, but I can understand why some people would. I have personally blocked numerous users and communities who post variations of the exact same post over and over and over again.
There are only so many times I can read the same bloody thing about Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Israel, and Linux.
I agree. Trump/Musk/Netanyahu are arseholes. Linux is awesome. But I don't bloody well want to read a variation of the same post every single time I access Lemmy.
some could view it as unfunny(personally i dislike the 'grandmas facebook had a leftist baby with a political propaganda poster'-style posts but i cant downvote or see downvotes anyways, that aspect of reddit has always been anger inducing for me so im glad i don't have access to it.) i dont see this meme as being bad though; air left my nose, dopamine pathways were activated.
Merkel is pretty unpopular among the German left. There’s a lot of things she did wrong, but the big one is that she was a big reason for why Germany was dependent on Russian Gas for heating and electricity until the next government cut off the pipelines after they invaded the Ukraine.
Of course, there are also a lot of things she did right and she was probably a major factor in keeping Germany stable during the 16 years in which she was leading the country, but these kind of memes still seem a bit ignorant about her.
