Also, the barrier between English and Dutch is pretty flimsy.

1 0 ReplyPossibly, but the distinction here is that the differentiation of Dutch and German didn't happen that long ago, and this would be a lot more obvious if the German dialects that are closest to Dutch weren't nearly dead.
