NBC Pulls Back ‘Tonight Show’ to Four Nights Per Week
NBC will pull 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" to four nights a week as TV networks look to shore up declines in late-night economics
Can someone explain why his show is popular? Granted I've only seen certain interviews from it, but he comes across as such an insufferable I don't know what. What am I missing?
I'm gonna try to "steel man" this: It's a lot of dumb fun with harmless, non-political games and interviews with other celebs. He's generally likeable and has musical talent and people look like they're having fun on the show.
Honestly though, I don't like Fallon, he annoys me. However, I've had friends that used to send me lots of clips of his like with Andy Samberg and him playing this quick guessing game and I was like, "meh, it's alright I guess". My friends also like James Corden so take from that what you will.

There's no money in late-night anymore, streaming killed it dead. Why watch cable when you can save that time for a binge marathon?
I mean, f* Fallon and his laughing at his own jokes, but my boy Seth Meyers deserves better. Even Colbert seems like he's trying.
I can't remember the last time I actually watched an entire late night show. I usually just watch the clips that interest me on YT.
I usually watch every drop of Meyers' "Corrections", which is online only. Quite a few of the "A Deeper Look" segments.
Thinking about it now, Seth and his crew seem to be the best prepared for dealing with the modern media landscape. Clearly defined segments that are easily digestible outside of the broadcast.
I'd say Colbert is right behind them.
Fallon I definitely watch the least. I probably watch more clips of old Letterman shows.
I'm pretty sure Seth is entirely aware of where his bread is buttered. I recall him joking about it in the past. As much as I'm loathe to admit it, short digestible clips are the way things are right now.
I think Quibi's only problem wasn't the length of it's shows, but it's assertion that their content should be vertical because people watch on their phones; without stopping to realise that auto-rotate is a thing....
I only watch Seth and Colbert on YouTube clips from the show. Mainly the monologues and A Closer Look.
Stephen Colbert used to be way funnier when he was a conservative.
After selling out so he could get a spot on late night he got a lot less funny.
Why don't they just find a funny host instead?
Pull Conan out of retirement, pay him whatever he wants. Make it a show like the View, but with Conan, Andy, and Craig Ferguson. I would bet Conan and Craig would grate on each other, Andy could be the voice of reason.
Sona can come too I guess
Most talkshows would benefit from just being replaced by reruns of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
Seriously, I'm in Ferguson withdrawal.
