Canadian Grand Prix Race Weekend Thread
Welcome
Hello everyone and welcome to the Canadian Grand Prix Weekend thread.
Details about this race can be found here.
Sessions
This thread will cover all the sessions this weekend, so that's all 3 practice sessions, qualifying, and the race.
We will monitor how this goes to see if we need more granularity.
Spoilers
The rules around spoilers are not yet in place, therefore we won't be enforcing anything around spoilers this weekend. This goes beyond the scope of this thread too.
If you do not want spoilers, please do not look in this community this weekend.
The aim is to have a finished set of rules ready by mid next week.
These conditions really bring out the chasm in ability between Stroll and Alonso.

10 0 ReplyWilliams with 2 fastest sectors, just like we ll predicted.
10 0 Replyhow do y'all feel about race weekends with these later than usual session start times?
I hate them, give me my 8-9am sessions!
How about you Euros/Asians? Are these times better or worse?9 0 ReplyPerez has bottled it.
8 0 ReplyFIA: It's raining
Drivers: It's not raining

Fastest: ALB VER NOR
Eliminated: LEC PER STR MAG BOTexactly as expected
8 0 ReplyI'm liking these liquipedia pages, so much context. Plus the session times posted there.
Rawe ceek, here we come!
8 0 ReplyThis new wall in the wet is pushing drivers out on to the racing line when they rejoin.
If its wet during the race, this has some dreadful implications.
8 0 ReplyI really want to like de Vries but he's so shit.
7 0 ReplyWow, Perez missings another Q3. Changing conditions give you some excuses, but overall that is not a good look against a team mate that is dominating the championship.
7 0 ReplyWhat a race by Alex Albon in that tractor, surely noone else is DotD?
7 0 Reply🟥 Red flag. Hülkenberg with engine issues
7 0 ReplyMax only feels something when he almost bins it. He must be so bored up there.
6 0 ReplyRed flag, Piastri on the wall as Hülkenberg gets P2
6 0 Replywooow HULK!
6 0 ReplyHulk P2? Please let it happen!
6 0 ReplyWho had Hulk starting P2 then?
6 0 ReplySo it's effectively over now with Hulk on the front row?

6 0 ReplyNando win please!
6 0 ReplyI know that this post is for the full weekend. Could we still have a separate race discussion? I think this would make it a bit better to keep an overview.
6 0 ReplyStroll just isn't cutting it on Aston Martin anymore. Maybe his dad can give him a cushy office job so we can get a competent driver.
6 0 ReplySainz is getting a penalty for that surely
6 0 ReplyQ1 results
Top 3: VER ALO HAM
Eiminated: TSU GAS DEV SAR ZHO
6 0 ReplyDecent race if you ignore P1. Good overtakes and battles all over the grid.
My first race weekend in the fediverse was pretty nice. Still lots to improve like the experience of refreshing the page and getting comments from other instances in a timely manner but it was fun.
See you next time 😊.
6 0 ReplyWith the ongoing rain, that has to be the final classification. Great work by Hulkenberg and Alonso. Verstappen delivering as expected.
Unless the rain stops before the track is green flagged again. But it currently looks like it would take more than 7 minutes to form a dry line again, even if the rain stopped right now.
5 0 ReplyQ3 with lots of rain and getting worse
5 0 ReplyIs it 0% chance of race before and during the race or just during?
I recall the weather prediction a few days ago said rain during the race is unlikely but there could be rain a few hours beforehand.
5 0 ReplyCan you sort comments by new in Jerboa? Otherwise difficult to find new comments.
5 0 ReplyLeclerc eliminated because Ferrari decided not to switch to softs when he wanted to. Stop inventing!
5 0 ReplyWhat’s great weekend. Canadian GP, US Open, and the Ashes. F in the chat for my wife and kids’ TV time please.
5 0 ReplyI look forward to McLaren raising my hopes, and then dashing them quite expertly.
5 0 ReplyCould turn into a tough weekend for Ferrari with both cars (probably) starting outside the top 10.
5 0 ReplyMax just being able to laugh off nearly beaching himself on the kerb because God knows no one's catching him
5 0 ReplyFerrari doing Ferrari things..
4 0 ReplyThanks to the mods for making this thread!
Hoping for a good race, though it's bit late in the evening for us Europeans
4 0 ReplyOh boy, really hoping Alpine are just getting their mechanical issues out of the way before the race. Not a good sign with both cars bringing out the red flags...
4 0 ReplyThat DRS hat
4 0 Reply2nd best qualifying after Monaco imo.
4 0 ReplyLol, Crofty couldn't wait to say red button.
4 0 ReplyWhat is this race direction? We're missing albon and Norris soft lap. Who is in charge this weekend? Seems worse than other weekends.
4 0 Replywait, just tuned in, what the fuck happend?
4 0 ReplyIf the rain picks up now and the softs take 2 laps to get to working temperature, those who just came in might lose out heavily.
4 0 ReplyDoes it rain everyontreal GP weekend?
4 0 ReplyOooh I do love a wet qualifying!
4 0 ReplyAw, man, went to commercial right as Gasly was about to tell everybody how he felt about Sainz being in the middle of the track.
4 0 ReplyClassic Alpine
4 0 ReplyLEC PER and STR out in Q2? This is interesting :::
4 0 Replyyay, full wets!
4 0 ReplyProbably just me but this thread wasn't easy to find on chrome android or jerboa, even though it's pinned?
4 0 Replypredictions:
- At least 3 yellow flags

3 0 ReplyOther than you know who, I have no predictions for how its going to play out!
3 0 ReplyFor those of us in Canada I hope one day we get coverage without Ads... That's my favorite part of the US GP weekends. :D
3 0 ReplyAnyone aware of any communities similar to r/motorsportsreplays or r/motorsportssteams?
4 1 ReplyWhat's French for "clutch"? I don't know, and it appears Alpine don't either.
3 0 Reply🟥 Red flag. Ocon stopped with some mechanical issue, told to stop the car by radio.
3 0 ReplyI noticed that two teams had different orange lights outside their box. I've never really noticed it, but I wonder if all teams have their own unique light (shape, flashing, animation).
I'd they do, this should so be a feature in the game as a customisation.
3 0 Reply🟥 Red flag. Gasly stopped on track, with a broken driveshaft
3 0 ReplyBwoah what a quali session. Too bad about the penalty for Hülkenberg, but still a very good result. The Q2 Albon gamble was also amazing, as well as both McLarens being up so high in Q2.
Big names dropping out, small teams rising to the top, constantly changing conditions, this is peak entertainment imo. And somehow Max always comes through and puts the car where it should be, it's so impressive.
3 0 ReplyIs this the "official" race discussion thread? I couldn't find anything on my instance so came here.
Great race start by the way. Should be a good one. Enjoy!
3 0 ReplyDisappointed with the lack of rain.
3 0 ReplyAmazing battle between Alonso and Hamilton!
3 0 ReplyAlonso has to lift and coast, and de La Rosa in the Spanish broadcast hints that he has to save fuel due to the high race pace.
3 0 ReplyPerez is losing on the Ferraris with softer tyres. How?
3 0 Replywhat's going on with Ocon's rear wing?
3 0 ReplyGood race. Sucks for Russell to have to retire after that comeback. Albon did excellent.
3 0 ReplyRussel has to retire with break issues
3 0 ReplyThat rejoin from De Vries is kinda spicy. Hope nothing bad happens during the race.
3 0 ReplyTechnical issues for Zhou, that was quick
3 0 ReplySainz should get even more then a 3 grid penalty. This was not only impeading, but crazy dangerous.
3 0 ReplySo one-lap-shootout coming up.
3 0 ReplyStarting to rain, and most drivers on softs
3 0 ReplyPerez should have finished his soft lap, would have been easily enough for Q3, what an idiotic decision to come in.
3 0 ReplyAlbon with softs
3 0 ReplyI can guarantee Max is not letting anyone pass him on the outlap.
3 0 ReplyWouldn't it be more desirable to just stay in the box instead of risking a crash? Obviously the lap times will not improve in the next few minutes, right?
3 0 ReplyGosh i hope it's raining tomorrow!
2 0 ReplySky spending a lot of time showing us this corner...
2 0 ReplyWhere is Hamilton!?
2 0 ReplyHulkenfire!
2 0 ReplyNot a great weekend start for Gasly and Alpine. Car sounded awful.
2 0 ReplyOh I almost forgot we were in RAWE CEEK! Came here to see that the sessions are already going to be very wet. Hope not another one gets put into red flag hell again...

2 0 ReplyZhou got a curse on him damn.
2 0 ReplyIt’s not a race weekend until there’s some Ferrari drama
2 0 ReplyRIP Ferrari engine :(
2 0 ReplyFerrari need to shake things up, move some of the Le Mans team into senior positions. Winning has consequences.
2 0 Reply🌧️ It's raining in part of the circuit
2 0 ReplyWhat happened to TSU? He pitted after the first lap?
2 0 ReplySainz vs Perez was fun.
2 0 ReplyHow do the marshal's know when to show their flags. Are they connected to audio to F1 central?
2 0 ReplyOcon pushes off Norris, and Stroll overtakes Bottas in the last lap
1 0 ReplyInteresting race and nice podium. Also happy for Albon, always nice to see him in the top 10.
1 0 ReplyFerrari with the new code language!
1 0 ReplyLewis is keeping up with Max. Oh wait as I type this he lost a couple tenths. Still, great pace of the Merc.
1 0 Replymonaco marshalls would have cleared the track in a couple of seconds by raising that car by hands
1 0 ReplyPiastri clips the wall
1 0 Replylol. Both Red Bulls with inters, but it isn't raining (yet). They use them for one lap to prepare them for tomorrow. And Mercedes copy the strategy.
1 0 ReplyFP2 will start 30 minutes earlier than scheduled (16:30 local, 20:30 UTC) and will be 90 minutes long.
1 0 ReplyGive me another Nando podium please!
1 0 ReplyThrough all the excitement, I completely missed that Lewis and Alonso are starting next to each other. I'm delighted for that prospect tomorrow, when Max diseappears and Hulk drops out of the points.
1 0 Replyearly Q3 results
