hmmm, first take and you fell for Ad Hominem fallacy, I'm asking about his reasoning, even if he was the worst human-being to walk earth, he might have a solid reasoning, so you added nothing to the conversation, did you even watch the video ?
His statements appear to be a by-the-book representation of born-again mentality. In my own experience with people doing this, it's a last ditch response to, "people think I've become messed up and no longer being a decent human, so I'm doing this to prove I'm not messed up."
This is only effective as long as they make maneuvers to avoid being "messed up". The statements he made in his video can only be taken as far as his practices afterwards. Does he apologize? Does he atone? Does anything happen besides "I dunked myself in water which means Jesus and I love each other" which is only the thinnest veil of non-action that results in positive feedback from the largest body of the public I can reach with one video. What do YOU think about his statements? Are you an atheist or are you baiting?
Are you suggesting the four women are lying? I don't care to "debunk" anything. It's sufficient for me to know that he's a sex pest and a Christian. Like peanut butter and jelly.
I think his reasoning is entirely fabricated, and in truth he hopes it will distract suckers from his recent sexual assault allegations. Evidently he's had some success if you're posting about it, imo.
That's a fair belief, personally I think it's hard for it be for this reason, because the accusations happened months ago, why didn't he acted like this back then ? Key word for me here : Actor.... But I just don't like to assume the worst in people...

Maybe... But I'm posting this because of the "why" in the title, it just got me interested in hearing an opinion other than my own... that's why I don't wanna debunk all the things he said...
Its in the same realm as everyone else who wants to be baptized...they have some 'awakening' and find some type of ritual to revel in it, pull things together to intensify the reveling and justification of their 'awakening' and those things are false comparisons(his comparision of religious violence and 'secular violence'), complaints about the modern world, past mistakes. Also since he is an addict he's switching to another addiction. Not sure what more I can say?
I also find it to be incredibly narcssicistic. It is a self-proclamation from a new convert to make a video about converting 24 hours after his conversion...it means nothing to me in any way shape or form, especially from someone who has a large platform.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to have anything beyond that about some stranger who has no relevance in my life. I was once a Christian for over a decade so the over all topic I have strong opinions towards but that video was nothing different from what I experienced in the modern church decades ago now. The only difference is irrelevant details, character names and the timeline. Replace Russell Brand with John Doe and you can copy and paste my response.
