As servers for games are shutdown I occasionally see fan-run replacements but I'm curious about singleplayer and offline mods. It seems like more of a niche as not all multiplayer games would work as well without other players.
Hitman 3 has a custom offline launcher known as the Peacock project iirc, super good time, let's you unlock all gear and play exclusive timed events and stuff whenever you want
I tried SPT a few months ago (with additional mods) and it was enjoyable especially if you like tarkov. There's a mod which makes the maps connected, where different extractions lead to other maps. There's lots of things you can do to make the singleplayer experience better.
Although I've ended up playing the GAMMA modpack for STALKER Anomaly instead. It has what I look for in tarkov, and then some.
np, NFS World probably bit niche side of NFS even though there was EA Black Box involvement on that game, while the original World has MTX nature, the emulated server deletes them and convert them into the same in game currency that you won from events.
I keeping tab on NFS Edge restoration (Project Verge) as I never played them (It was China only iirc) and it seems pretty fun if the MTX part are gone, hopefully they can manage to replicate the success like in SBRW to allow custom community server.
I know it's technically not a mod but most older versions of RuneScape can be played "offline" by creating a personal private server. Everything from RSC to HDScape can have private servers but I don't think I've seen private servers for RS3.
Still super in progress and a genuine pain to set up last I checked, but grasscutter (name iirc) for genshin impact. I was hosting a server my friends and I played on and we just played in a gtfo gacha configuration. It's one of the few I know of being reversed while the game is still live on official.
There were enemies the last time I tried it but they weren't perfect or totally accurate to any particular version of official. Quests were also really hit or miss and some required manually overriding as cleared. some public servers automated this but I couldn't find much on the procedures when I was hosting one.
Modders are almost finishing a private server for Dragon's Dogma Online, you can even host your own, enemy spawns were the newest breakthrough, but I couldn't take any quests.
Good thing is that there's a money cheat and every shop sells it's entire year stock, even collabs, christmas, etc. Anyway here's everything it does and how to get it.
That sounds wicked. Almost like it would be the preferable version for newcomers and hardcore fans alike. Even over the official servers if they are still up.
Omfg. Thanks for sharing this. Ddon is my favourite really generic fantasy game and I really missed the qol changes over dark arisen. I see there is still work to do but I'm likely going to be testing this out in the new year. I really miss the spell casting inputs, my favourite of all games with magic where I actually feel like I'm personally making the spell stronger rather than just minmaxing stats or charging for stupidly long ultimately reducing DPS.
