Hopes in getting acc back?
So, I know this isn't a help forum or anything but, being Lemmy I'd think some people are on the same boat as me too.
I got permanently Banned in reddit for vote manipulation, I foolishly and childishly used 2 accounts to up vote myself to make it seem I was winning arguments. I then created a new account to start fresh but I didn't know that counted as a Ban Evasion(I didn't know ban Evasion was a thing), but that got banned too.
I've appealed by apologizing since I am guilty and genuinely sorry , however I'm not a spambot or anything. I made a mistake and just want a second chance.
Is there anything else I can do to start fresh "safely"? (factory reset my android device? I Can't change my external IP tho) Has anyone been on a similar situation and gotten their account reinstated?
Being honest I like Lemmy but it's nowhere near as populated as Reddit, sadly

TIL, Reddit blocks VPNs since last march.
adguard-vpn.com Reddit is blocking VPN users from its siteReddit has been blocking users who are using VPNs from its site unless they log into their Reddit accounts. Why is that? And what to do?
You cannot access reddit without either an account, or turning off your VPN. Effectively meaning that it’s difficult to access reddit privately, as they can either track you with IP or with account.
Even alternative frontends like RDX for reddit by @[email protected] don’t solve this issue.
I can’t believe more people haven’t left because of that.

Reddit has a habit of promoting less than honest lefty rage bait.
I’m not saying the GOP won’t do it but getting mad before anything happens will create a avenue of attack for the GOP or make you look dumb when it doesn’t happen.
If the left gets in the habit of calling foul before anything is done when the actual bad news hits it will be less impactful.
Normally I would say let it be but with how much the GOP depend on voters in their party that benefit from Medicaid they are actively trying to soften the blow for when they actually do it.
This issue is a powder keg and if we flinch before it goes off we put ourselves in the blast zone.

Condé Nast (owns Reddit), other news orgs say AI firm stole articles, spit out “hallucinations”
arstechnica.com Condé Nast, other news orgs say AI firm stole articles, spit out “hallucinations”Publishers sue Cohere, say AI firm is “stealing our works.”…
From the article:
Condé Nast, which owns Ars Technica and other publications such as Wired and The New Yorker, was joined in the lawsuit by The Atlantic, Forbes, The Guardian, Insider, the Los Angeles Times, McClatchy, Newsday, The Plain Dealer, Politico, The Republican, the Toronto Star, and Vox Media.
From another article:
The founders sold Reddit to Condé Nast for $10M less than a year after launch (in 2006). Ohanian and Huffman stayed on for a few years after the acquisition but, eventually, both went on to start other projects. Neither of them would be gone for long.
So, does Condé Nast own Reddit? Not exactly. Condé Nast owned Reddit until 2011 when Reddit became an “independent subsidiary” of Advance Publications—the company that owns Condé Nast, among others.

Another reddit ban reversal
"After reviewing, the Reddit admin team found that the content wasn’t in violation of Reddit’s rules. As a result, the content has been restored and your ban or warning has been lifted.
Reddit and its communities are only what we make of them together, and while trying to keep redditors and communities safe, we don’t always get it right. We apologize for our mistake and appreciate your understanding.
Thanks again for your appeal, and for bringing the mistake to our attention. We’ll use this feedback to improve the systems and processes we use to keep redditors and communities safe.
We hope you continue enjoying Reddit and have a great rest of your day.

If musk actually says "Heil H**ler" while doing the nazi salute, what do you think r/conservative will do?
I just searched "nazi salute" on r/conservative... and its just such insane denialism...
Like, what if musk just do the "Heil H**ler" too?
I wonder what excuses they'll make then?
🤔
Fake News?
Deepfake?
🤣
r/conservative should be renamed to r/neonazi

Permabans are stupid
I say this in the hopes Lemmy does not have them. Being too in favor of punching fascists should not result in a person being unable to participate in one of the largest forums on the internet. In fact, I'll go out and say, any behavior that would normally be bigotry or authoritarianism is immediately justifiable if its against fascists. Yes, I am venting because my 9th account got shadowbanned for ban evasion, how can you tell? If a person gets banned, they'll probably delete the account, When you then ban the new ones for evasion that is impossible to appeal, obvious fucking trap

Looking to see if there is any support for a new Lemmy group that is a good alternative to all the reddit political stuff.
The group would be for discussion of political topics but without labels. Contributors would not identify as on the left or the right. Simple discussions based on your personal thoughts on issues.
Posts would be both linked articles and your own self posts about an issue. There would be no cries of consider the source. You can post a link from the NY Times or RedState. I'm using those just as examples of what ends discussions because your political affiliation reflexively causes you not to believe a particular source. Something is either true or not and truth is not dependent on the source that raises the issue.
Name calling would not be tolerated. If you rudely call out another contributor you would be banned for one month.
We always talk about those disillusioned with reddit and trying to get them to try Lemmy. I don't remember reddit ever having a successful group to discuss politics that wasn't slanted.
For this to be worth the trouble we will need at least a beginning of at least 10 users that would contribute to the group. And at least a few willing to be mods of the group. The group would be No Labels Politics.
Respond if you are willing to contribute, be a mod or both. And I will set it up.

Reddit’s vibe has suddenly changed yet again
Now Reddit’s not just promoting ragebait and AI generated stories, but divisive conservative rhetoric. Anyone else notice the non-political subreddits spontaneously hosting a population of chuds and propagandists where a few weeks ago they weren’t tolerated?
Has reddit changed the algorithm? Has some nation begun its bot operation? Has reddit deployed bots at musk’s behest? Has twitter sent its worst users to brigade? (All of twitter’s users are its worst users) I don’t know, but the effect is striking. All I’m certain about is that I’m avoiding reddit even harder now.

/r/Conservative is hitting the front page almost every day now...with (relatively) low upvotes.
I wish we could see up/downvotes like in the past. I think reddit may be artificially boosting some posts into the front page. You can see in the screenshot it has very little upvotes (or older) compared to the other top 4 posts.
I have no evidence other than noticing right after the election, /r/conservative seems to be hitting the front page every day. But I remember before the election, it only hit the front page once in a blue moon or so. Is this just me? Am I the only one noticing this?

Ate a three day ban after talking about Lemmy
Reddit's automod thing says I threatened violence and harm and. I dunno? But I recall effectivly advocating against harm in the subs where discussion was going on. However It's funny. ...As I said.
They would not fear us, if we could not harm them.

Reddit reverses the NSFW sub banning, blaming it on a bug
Surprising that this bug hit only NSFW and LGBT subs no? Almost sounds like there's a shortlist to run through with such scripts.
