Reddit has a habit of promoting less than honest lefty rage bait.
I’m not saying the GOP won’t do it but getting mad before anything happens will create a avenue of attack for the GOP or make you look dumb when it doesn’t happen.
If the left gets in the habit of calling foul before anything is done when the actual bad news hits it will be less impactful.
Normally I would say let it be but with how much the GOP depend on voters in their party that benefit from Medicaid they are actively trying to soften the blow for when they actually do it.
This issue is a powder keg and if we flinch before it goes off we put ourselves in the blast zone.
"It's well within their power."
What do you mean by that? That eliminating Medicaid is an acceptable decision? How in your right mind could you come to that conclusion?
I’m currently not of the mindset that the left and the right can continue to have democratic respect for each other. We are at war. Power no longer is not about legitimacy, but about victory. Norms and rule of law are clearly over. An insurrectionist isn’t even constitutionally allowed to be president. Nothing is sacred.
So it’s not really about if they have the power or not, we need to be focused on getting power back and preventing mass death and slavery of the working class. And we won’t get that power back via the system as it exists, because it’s been captured.
The solution is not to promote disinfo rage bait. Like if you look today on the front page there is an actual article describing the situation in full.
Idk. I remain firmly convinced one of the better ways to enact change (secondary to voting my chosen candidates in) is to call my representatives and voice my opinion on upcoming legislation. If I wait until the bills are introduced to make my calls, there is no guarantee the contact is made by then. One quick example with easy dates is Obamacare: introduced to house Mar 17, 2010. Voted on in-house 3/21, voted on in Senate by 3/25. That is 6 business days to be introduced and pass both House and Senate. If I had objections, that leaves me little time to contact and do my little spiel and for staffers to "review" it as needed.
Make no mistake, I'm not naive to where messages go, as I'm not a lobbyist with a checkbook. But listening to someone on the internet telling me "don't worry about it yet, everything is fine" seems an awful lot like drumming up apathy. These Medicaid and Dept of Ed threats directly threaten my job and clients, so I will absolutely not be waiting until the 11th hour to voice an opinion.
i have been calling out that some of these subreddits have been posting ragebait material, many of those sources are backed by RU too, cant people tell the difference? you can tell in a politcs sub/or adjacent, that the article people posting often have these kinds headlines "why isnt a dem doing this or that, or he or she is going to lose the election if they dont do this or that" these are one of the examples, furthermore alot of the mods are mostly right wing/powermods that own multiple subs too. theres almost mirror image between one of these subs and a conservative subs. and also banning is very nebelous in the subs too. they allow right wingers to astroturf the sub, only mildly banning some of them when they are called out, and the opposite almost gets an outright ban if you try to comment that is literally the same aggreement of the thread, or you are reporting one of the righties.
It's a uphill battle. Reddit so desperately wants to flip red and they plan on doing it by creating so much lefty disinfo that they will be indisguishable from the red hats and conservatives will just start shouting everything down.
