Figma Disables AI App Design Tool After It Copied Apple’s Weather App
  • Yeah, I don’t know about that. Enterprise stuff they do with team, fig jam, and dev mode is pretty shady. They bate businesses with “free” features for a year, you can’t opt out of them, employees adopt them, then Figma starts charging once they’ve got their claws into you.

Figma’s enterprise tactics are some of the shadiest things I’ve ever seen from a vendor that I pay.

But, they have silly stickers in Fig Jam, so people like them.

  • They never got that Adobe “fuck it” money, and Apple has lawyers for days.

  • As the article indicates, it’s catering to the crowd that wants a packed bar fully of people infatuated with whatever is trending in pop culture.

Lemmy’s user base of bean loving software engineers is not that crowd.

  • I don’t know about nobody. Did you see what “one horny user” wrote?

  • Okay, Biden isn’t popular. But his policies sure are.
  • Biden is a solid administrator, but a terrible campaigner / salesman. And the older he gets, the worse he gets at the latter. He’s always been bad at it, but these days he’s extra bad at it.

  • Apple Rumored to Be Working on AirPods With Built-in Cameras
  • As I recall, the original goal was to build a product that allowed you to leave the phone behind so you could be more present in the world.

Problem is, processing and battery power clearly isn’t there yet, and it would require a separate sim for that.

A product that leveraged the phone would’ve been a better V1. It’s kind of the obvious conclusion everyone comes to when they play with this thing in the wild.

  • And this is why the Humane Pin was always a dumb idea. Apple, Google, Samsung, etc just needed to license some LL and diffusion models, then slap camera on all the headphones they make. Boom - instant humane like experience that’s faster, lighter, better looking, has better battery, etc etc.

No futuristic projector UI, but that thing was pretty busted anyway.

  • Obama vs. Romney: The first 2012 presidential debate
  • I kind of doubt most people were thinking about super delegates in the polling booth. That’s pretty a wonky and most people don’t pay attention to that.

IMHO, it was the super simple stuff that we see in elections all over the world. A candidate gets a leg up if they are well known or is a continuation of a recent administration that people liked.

  • Obama vs. Romney: The first 2012 presidential debate
  • Dem leadership decided we don't need to find a good candidate anymore.

People had Warren, Sanders, Buttigieg, and Klobuchar to pick from. Voters picked Biden.

  • Please vote
  • It wasn’t so much the voice that was the problem, it’s that his answers were often bad and totally incoherent.

If he was clear and concise, I’d deal with the raspy voice.

  • CNN's debate was no fair fight
  • I don’t know if this is an improvement. As many feared, the muted mic saved Trump from himself. I’m sure his staff was actually pretty excited about that rule.

It would prevent him from doing what he did last time, which polled terribly.

  • CNN's debate was no fair fight
  • IMHO, complaining about the refs feels like grasping for straws.

Biden was rambling, incoherent, and unlike Trump, he couldn’t get on message. And the messaging against Trump ain’t complex. He wants fascism, he’s killing women, covid was a fucking disaster under him, he’s a felon, and he’s lying. Biden struggled to get the basics out in a clear and coherent way.

IMHO, this is NOT the time to keep on and carry on. This debate is early enough that he can still step down and we can have a contested convention. The alternative is fascism. Biden is going to lose this shit.

  • Apple finally adds support for RCS in latest iOS 18 beta | TechCrunch
  • Alternative SMS / RCS apps in iOS would be very nice to have.

That said, people who are buying iPhones are usually buying iPhones because they like Apple’s experiences. People that want more options for default apps tend to be going to Android.

At least with SMS / RCS, people can buy a different phone and explore different clients. When I talk to my friends and family in countries dominated by Line, WeChat, or WhatsApp, I’m kind of stuck dealing with those crappy user experiences. Those companies want to trap me in their user experiences and there are even fewer alternatives if I want to interact on their platforms.
