Trump Is Now on the Hook for 32 Counts of Mishandling Secret Documents
  • The most ridiculous argument ever. If they have some, then that would be a crime TOO. Even if they have truckloads, it doesn't make it any less of a crime for Trump.

  • Ohio: round at the ends and high in the middle
  • Neat, I'm round and high too!

  • [meme] Trains are 100000x easier to electrify and automate than cars, so why does everyone keep talking about electric and driverless cars?
  • Sure, I'll just bike through 4 feet of snow to get to town. Roads don't need to fall within specific tolerances to operate either, like tracks. Have you ever been to the country? Anywhere that snows? You sound like "city folk" to me and you throwing around "closed minded" and "genius" when someone else brings up a contradictory point makes you sound more like "city asshole". Maybe keep the conversation civil, eh?

  • This is a better way to word the point I was trying to make. Gender is just another detail in the sentence. If more details are needed, like the gender of the subject, they can be called out specifically like every other detail, like shoe color.

I agree that gendered pronouns can be somewhat useful, but definitely not "very" useful. I can't even contrive a situation where it would be very useful

  • This needs to be a graphic novel!

  • I say nearly this same thing, which is probably similar to what every generation says about the next one. Wait until they "grow up" and find out what real problems are. Your pronoun won't mean much if you lose your job and have to figure out how to pay the mortgage and for groceries before your kids starve.

  • Other languages get around just fine without gendered pronouns. I bet there are other languages that feel like English is missing valuable concepts as well (not necessarily gender-related) , but we don't miss them since we never had them.

  • grammarphobia
  • This is the way all language should be. Gendered words of any kind serve absolutely no purpose

  • What are the bad patterns of Reddit to never repeat on Lemmy?
  • What id like to see on Lemmy is less America-hate... Or just hating on countries in general. Hatable humans live in countries, let's talk about them instead of everybody in that country. "Gunshot story? Must be America!" Gets old really quick

  • threads is already going great 💀
  • Easy on the boomer stuff. You just lumped "horrible people" into the same group as regular people that happen to have lived more years than you. If you are looking for a "nerd" platform, you'll do well to remember that there are a ton of extremely nerdy boomers out there and you just helped turn the soup to poison for them

  • I haven't built a PC in over 10 years so I may have gone a bit nuts with my specs. I figured if I was going to spend the money I wanted something that would last a while. I don't think NMS requires a beefy PC but it certainly looks and runs awesome. I started on the Switch and quickly decided that I wanted a better experience so, being a huge nerd, I went the DIY PC route. Teleports/warps take seconds instead of minutes, terrain and bases load before I land rather than having to exit my ship and stand there while the door appears on the base I just landed at. Overall, I highly recommend the beefy PC for NMS.

  • Glyph exchange?
  • Good call, I'm down with that!

  • Glyph exchange?
  • I'll be posting my finds to nmsce.com as well 👍

  • Glyph exchange?
  • Yeah, I'm not up to the task, I'll just post the occasional find here and, like others have said, if we get big enough we'll expand

  • Expedition worm

Caught this big dude as he was taking flight. This expedition 10 planet is full of these, just wait for a few minutes and you'll hear one taking off or landing somewhere.

  • Glyph exchange?

Hello fellow travelers! I wasn't even aware Lemmy was a thing until the most recent Reddit shenanigans. I was a big lurker on Reddit, but I'm completely down with this whole Lemmy/federated server thing so I want to help make this new situation home as much as I can.

To that end, I was wondering if there were any plans to start a glyph exchange community here in "federated space" (sorry, couldn't help myself). I've been sitting on a decent number of interceptor finds waiting for some kind of push to get me to start posting them. I believe this is my push. Will there be a separate community for exchanging glyphs or will this be that community?

I have glyphs for all of the interceptors in my pic, but those are just the ones I decided to keep. I'll respond with glyphs if there are any requests... except the far left purple/yellow, that's my little secret :D

Anyway, I'm really excited to start giving back to the community that has given me so much. Thanks and safe travels!
