[Discussion] Should we defederate exploding-heads.com? (Closing arguments)
  • No, do not participate and block the communites if you want to. This should be a platform for free speech. Just because you don't like it does not mean it should be defederated.

I absolutely do not support what they say or do, but I think anyone should be able to discuss anything, not just stuff I support. That's what free speech is, and I am 100% against ANY form of censorship.

I haven't seen anything from them and I don't go looking for it. But if every instance defederated something they don't like, Lemmy will absolutely fail. No one wants to use 87 different instances so they have a complete experience. Every instance will be a special place for their snowflakes

  • Is wefwef unable to discover communities with their community links via search?

I've been trying to search for [email protected] for the past 30 minutes and cannot bring it up. I've tried Linux and [email protected] as well

Warez: Do you pirate software or just use FOSS?
  • FOSS unless there is no close alternative to whatever the best is.

I use Gimp, but I also have legit Photoshop, Lightroom and DXO because Gimp is, in my opinion, pretty terrible for prosumer photography. I have not yet tried affinity, but may in the future because Adobe's subscription model is bullshit

  • Lemmy.world Admin Response to Defederation from Exploding Heads
  • Do you have any thoughts on beehaw blocking lemmy.world? Are you working with them to resolve the issues?

It seems like a rather large hit to communities as a large number of subreddits have landed there to help lemmy grow as a whole

  • Lemmy is being gentrified
  • I agree with all your concerns but the refugee thing. That's just silly AF. By the definition of the word, that is exactly what we are. We fled X to seek the safety of Y. It's been used in this exact sense for online communities for literal decades, you don't get to change it :)
