I liked him on the Knicks. Great effort and skill. I hope he can show the same in OKC and get lits if playing time.
I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to salary cap and contracts and was wondering this exact thing. At what point is having a potential winning team more important than a few million for someone who is possibly a billionaire by now. Apparently Lebron couldn't just play for a couple of million and get a superstar teammate instead. Good to know.
Witcher 3 was great even though the pacing almost lost me. I'm the kind of player who plays one main story mission and then has to complete all available side quests, before continuing the main quest. It's the reason the only Bethesda Game I have ever finished is Oblivion.
That's why I recommend people to stick with it and finish some main quests if you ever feel like the game loses yo.
A little PSA: buying a game just before a sale, is a legitimate reason for a refund according to their Refund FAQ
I have never played a From Software game. Sekiro is really tempting to get, because I never could see myself dodging/rolling around the big enemies and bosses. Mostly human-sized enemies and parrying sounds much more appealing to me. But the difficulty has scared me off thus far and it never went below 50% off
I bought Horizon Zero Dawn when it was 50% off. For me it was really worth it. Got every achievement for it. I plan to do the same when Horizon Forbidden West is 50% off.
It's definitely a great game, when it reaches the right price point for you

I joined one group buy for keycaps. Took 3 years! Switched to Topre keyboards. Now I either need to buy new sliders or sell the keycaps.
Group buys are absolutely not for me.

I think it's hilarious that western leaders are worried about provoking Russia by providing Ukraine with weaponry that can be used in Russian territory.
Russia is at war with us. It's not tanks, fighter jets and battleships. It's cyber warfare, disinfomation campaigns, bribing of right wing politicians and poisonings. Just because nobody wants to call it a war, doesn't make it go away.
Overall a good list.
Minor nitpicks like healthy Embiid should be in 1A for me and the gap between Tatum and Brown being too big. As a Knicks fan I like Brunson so high. I hope he can confirm that evaluation next season.
Then there is KD. His skill is unquestionable, but if we speak of value, he isn't 1B for me. IMO he has become a poison pill since Brooklyn.
Teams change up their whole structure and trade away the kitchen sink to get him. What do they get? A strong team on paper that doesn't produce results.
When the going gets tough he requests a trade. The team is left with a roster built around him and few to no draft picks.
Why does nobody ask the important question?
Will the players be required to be on his podcast when asked?
Imagine being such a bad prospect as a franchise, you have to offer a coach a six year contract and $80mio.
And then imagine such a bad season, you rather let him go and eat the rest of his contract, than have him continue the work.
Some real geniuses in Detroit.

This position could only happen with an illegal move. Another monarch would never permit the pawns to kill royalty and their police force would never help.
Did you ever wonder why the game is over just before a king dies?!?
With the obvious off season move out of the way, we can look forward to their next moves.

Discovery has always been a mixed bag for me.
I was fine with their changes to the Klingons, but disliked the emphasis of action.
I liked Pike and Spock (an Strange new Worlds), bit disliked the final battle with a million ships/drones.
I liked the jump into the future, but disliked the reason and resolution of the Burn.
I liked the threat of the DMA and its consequences, but the interpersonal relationships of the crew lost their appeal to me.
Season 5 was one of the weakest for me.
The Breen and the new XO two positives for me.
The crew, the Progenitor Tech and the search for it were all boring for me. Especially the established characters are more annoying than interesting to me.
Mol and L'ak ruined the season for me, more specifically Mol. A cross between a tantrum-having toddler and rebellious teenager, she added nothing to the plot. Her random connection to Book was blatantly manufactured and added nothing.
I actively had to stop myself from skipping scenes with her. I was close to just stop watching this season, since the rest wasn't too compelling either. I really dislike when antagonist keep sticking around, because the heroes try saving them (from themselves). It's okay to let a horrible person bleed to death, Michael.
I'm glad it's over. It could have been better, but also worse. I think this season showed it was a good decision to end it now.
Replacing my Xbox 360 Wireless Controller
Thus far I have been playing on my XBox 360 wireless controller, but the rubber has worn off one of the sticks so far, i can feel the edge of the hard plastic beneath it when I play. The springs in the triggers are creaking as well.
So I am looking for a replacement.
Some people recommended the 8BitDo controllers. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2.4 Ghz Controller offers hall effect sensors and a loading dock for the same price as a regular Xbox or Playstation controller.
I found some posts about the compatibility with Linux. The BT+2.4 version seems to have more problems, but even the 2.4Ghz version needs some tinkering.
Does anyone have any experience with 8BitDo in general or the 2.4Ghz model in particular? Are there other controllers I should look at? I mostly play rogue likes with controller and would like a XBox/Playstation style controller.
Thanks.
Edit: Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I used them and watched some reviews. I went from the 8BitDo Ultimate 2.4Ghz to the GuliKit KK 3 Max and finally landed at the Flydigi Vader 3 Pro. Ordered it from Aliexpress (not available at Amazon in Europe) for under 50€.
Got tracked down for my school reunion
Today I was contacted by someone at work. She graduated school with me and our 20 year reunion was coming up. Why did she contact me at work? It was the only way they were able to track me down. I was included in promotional material by name. She told me I "was the hardest to track down"and I had to smile.
This is just a small anecdote about privacy practices and their real life impact (and how your employer can undo all of it, I guess)
PulseAudio sound server - active profile switches and has to be manually selected
Since a recent update I have trouble with my audio devices.
Arch, KDE Plasma 6, X11 I mainly use a USB DAC, but sometimes switch to my TVs speakers (connected via HDMI) and that's where I have trouble with.
The problem is the output profile for my TV is not consistent between reboots of my system and/or TV and has to be manually set. The profile is shown in the Plasma sound settings as inactive.
In this instance the pactl list cards shows the first profile hdmi-stereo as active (available: yes). However I can't switch to it in the Plasma sound settings.
off: Off (sinks: 0, sources: 0, priority: 0, available: yes) output:hdmi-stereo: Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 5900, available: yes) output:hdmi-stereo-extra1: Digital Stereo (HDMI 2) Output (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 5700, available: no) output:hdmi-stereo-extra2: Digital Stereo (HDMI 3) Output (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 5700, available: no) output:hdmi-stereo-extra3: Digital Stereo (HDMI 4) Output (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority: 5700, available: no)
So far the active profiles were hdmi-stereo and hdmi-stereo-extra2.
I have to manually activate the profile with pactl set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_26_00.1 output:hdmi-stereo
, if the profile has switched. If I try to switch to any of the other stereo profiles, nothing happens, I have to chose the available one.
I didn't have any luck figuring out why the profile can change when I reboot and how I can activate one profile automatically without manual input.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Wayland/X11 problems with 4K HDMI TV
My current setup includes two 1440p monitors and a 4K TV . In the evening I use a script to switch off the monitors and use the TV. Due to the different resolutions, scaling is a problem. Both X11 and Wayland have their own problems.
My setup: Arch, KDE, Nvidia RTX 2060 with proprietary NVIDIA drivers (edit: version 545.29.06), 2x 1440p 144Hz monitors (DP-0, DP-1), 1x 4K 60Hz TV via (HDMI-0)
X11: Currently my procedure is as follows when I want to switch from monitors to my TV:
- I turn the TV on
- I change the Global scale to 175% via the KDE GUI. (I haven't found a command to implement in a script yet)
- I use xrandr to switch to the TV only.
xrandr --output HDMI-0 --primary --mode 3840x2160 --pos 5120x0 --rotate normal --rate 60 --output DP-0 --off --output DP-1 --off
The monitors turn off, but the TV shows a black screen. After a restart the TV works and the scaling is correct. So far I haven't found a way to change the scaling and switch to the TV without a restart.
Oddly if I turn on all screens at the same time, it works. All of them show the desktop
xrandr --output HDMI-0 --mode 3840x2160 --pos 5120x0 --rotate normal --rate 60 --output DP-0 --primary --mode 2560x1440 --pos 0x1124 --rotate normal --output DP-1 --off --output DP-2 --mode 2560x1440 --pos 2560x1124 --rotate normal
However, when I use step 3 afterwards, the TV shows a black screen again.
I tried to find solutions, but it's hard to figure out, since I'm not sure if it's a driver problem, KDE problem, ...
Wayland:
- the max refresh rate for the TV is 30 Hz
- with the TV turned on the system freezes every few seconds for a second or two
I haven't tinkered with Wayland a lot. The freezes make it a no-go for now. X11 at least has a workaround, even though it's a bit annoying.
Even though I have used Linux for a while. I'm probably still considered a beginner, so any help would be appreciated.
