I'm just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.
Currently on Earth for 8 years ensuring steps to unite humanity and usher us into the galactic civilization just so I can see my boyfriend again.
The State? Misinformation
And that's how you get Republicans saying that Haitians are eating pets in Ohio.
We literally saw the outside world and thought "not for me" and invented houses.
"FREE HAT! HE SHOT THAT BABY IN SELF DEFENSE!"
Other kid not drawn because that kind of violence and gore would be unacceptable in the 50s.

It just works like the way Skyrim VR just works or will it make HL2 the same kind of experience as HL: Alyx?
I'm not sure if people looking for something laid out like Twitter or other microblogging sites would necessarily move to Lemmy, which is more like a forum. The activities on any social media may be largely the same, but presentation matters a lot.
To me, Lemmy and other forum style SM is like going to a bar and finding people to have a conversation, where as Twitter/BlueSky/Mastodon/etc are like standing on a street corner and just yelling random thoughts.
My husky is like this most of the time. Follows me everywhere but just to be in the same room. If she wants cuddles, she will demand them by scratching me and grabbing my hand with her mouth.
What y'all tagging me as?
Because it's not made in the East, but the West. It's just a regular cartoon with the intended audience of children.
So... What's his job exactly? To tell Trump "that's not ethical" and be promptly ignored?
Gabe was actually pretty wealthy even before he left Microsoft to form Valve.
If they appeared with guns, wouldn't the robodogs also be strapped?
Has anyone ever actually ridden it? I know the accident happened before this area was actually open/finished so it basically never got used before but I question if anyone breaking into the exclusion zone ever powered it up and turned it on.
Swap Uncle Tom for Uncle Ruckus from Boondocks and it would be more accurate.
Would Wasteland count as cyberpunk? It has nearly all the same tropes, but instead of being in a somewhat functional corpocratic dystopia, the dystopia is because it's post-apocalyptic.
If not, then the first cyberpunk thing I've played is Crusader: No Remorse. That one is definitely cyberpunk.
Personally, I don't like the fact that every team-based video game uses ELO, a system designed for a 1 on 1 game, to determine an individual's skill.
Is is the theory that little, invisible gremlins are just constantly pulling things down? đ¤
You agree to not break the law using their product, you agree to arbitration instead of going to a real court (which the company would pay for, not you, so please actually take them up on this en mass), you agree to not reverse engineer the code, reproduce the code or redistribute the code, etc. Long ass lists of what you can and can not use it for. Sometimes there's funny shit in there like the tos for iTunes disallows you to use the software to create nuclear weapons. Idk how you would use iTunes for that but I guess they wanted all their bases covered.
Tl;Dr - "You agree to be raped in the asshole by capitalism."
I know it happens because I worked at Walmart and many of my coworkers would routinly put returned food back on the shelves from the go back bins when they were supposed to be trashed, because nobody ever wanted to do the trash process or even was told about it (I only knew how and that it was a thing because I would constantly waste time going on the company intraweb and doing lessons on all the positions in the store instead of working).

This song feels fitting, given certain things going on right now.
Why are my pawns taking the longest possible route to get places?
I meticulously make roads and keep bed rooms nearby to the work the colonist is supposed to be doing, but I am still noticing that, without extra Common Sense, PUAH or Haul+ tasks being appended to their current action, they tend to take the longest possible route to reach their destinations. Like, I have a kitchen right in the center of my entire compound, with shelves and fridges to store the food in everyone's bedroom. He finished making a meal and was taking it to a building like 16 tiles away to the left. Instead of just going directly there, the dumbass goes right, out the walls (despite being assigned to a zone that doesn't allow them to leave the safety of said walls), around the entire perimeter of the compound, enters back in from the south and then proceeds up the 400 tiles or so back to the room that was super close to where he started. đŦ
Is there, like, a mod that allows me to set pathing priorities like you can in Dwarf Fortress, or do I just need to give them brain implants that make them not so stupid?
What would it feel like passing through a wormhole?
We kinda know what happens if you get sucked into a black hole because of math (spaghettification, what outside observers would see, etc); can the same be said about worm holes? Would you even notice if you passed through one? What would they look like? What would someone watching someone else go through a wormhole look like?
Well shit...
My ex-wife has been trying to contact me for a few weeks while I've been ignoring her because I assumed it was just more bullshit like always. But she managed to get in contact with my dad and the reason she has been trying to get a hold of me is because she apparently tested positive for syphilis and has had it for several years. So now I have to go get checked myself... Fucking A, man... I'm allergic to penicillins and I know that's the treatment if I end up having it. Not even in my life anymore and she still manages to cause me stress.
Can't butcher/bury/burn Yttakins?
These guys are new to me since the last time I played, so IDK what's up. I have a dead one just chilling in my freezer and nobody will do anything with it. It's not counting as a corpse? When trying to force it at the butcher or creamtorium, it says no corpse available; but they did stick him in the corpse pile.
I am using the Alien Races and Anthro Race mods, which might be fucking things up, but this is a default race, and even with the xeno ideology additions, my colony is set to not GAF about eating people (human or alien); not to mention they'd burn or bury it anyway, just because it's a corpse that isn't one of us. Not sure how to dispose of this fuzzbutt and stop the negative thoughts upon seeing him while grabbing some chow.
Edit: He weighs too much! IDK how the hell they carried him to the freezer in the first place though... He weighs 60kg, and the maximum anyone can carry is 34kg. :/
Edit 2: Even though I had already tried this, setting my crematorium to allow everything then forcing them to cremate bodies worked just now. Doing the same thing with the butcher table didn't, and I had already tried this last night with both before I made the post and it wasn't working... Ugh... đŽâđ¨
I just realized why some people hate replicated food...
Two reasons, actually.
-
It's not their preferred preparation. All the replicated food is based on a pattern from an original recipe. It's not adding flair or anything, it's literally a copy of a dish made who knows how long ago. And that's where the next reason comes from:
-
Imagine eating some spicy pepper dish from, like, the 1940's vs the same dish made today with spicer peppers. It wouldn't be as spicy eating something that wasn't, at the time, really selectively bred to be more spicy. If the recipe for the replicator is, like, hundreds of years old it would probably not be as potent as the same dish made with real ingredients.
I can imagine that the characters that have expressed disdain for replicated food probably get hit by both of these. It's not the way they would preferred it to be made, and it's also like eating vegetable jello salad in 2024.
Sort by "Most Viewed?"
Would it be possible to have that added as a method of sorting posts on Lemmy? Instead of including votes, or just the most recent comments, "Active" and "Hot" could also include simply what's being looked at even if nobody is actually interacting with it in any other way. Actually kinda baffled why this is already a thing on SM.
Also I wasn't sure where to really post this, which is why it's here.
Adastra has broken me. I can't stop thinking about it.
I've never had a work of fiction affect me so and I don't know what to do other than talk about it. I keep making myself cry wishing it all was real and I was there on Adastra or Khemia with Amicus and Neferu.
I've certainly felt a fondness for characters and wanted to be transported to fictional worlds before but... Not like this. Not this badly. And it's not even the visuals that drew me to any of the characters; I've seen their images a lot before ever playing the game and didn't have the same pull toward them as I do now, knowing their personalities.
This is so fucked up and stupid and I feel dumb for even admitting how it's making me feel, but I just have to because otherwise I'm going to overflow. đ
You ever read something so good, it made you depressed that it ended?
I finished Adastra and I just want to die because I can't do anything new with Amicus. đ
ERROR incorrect_login but only on my PC?
I got on my PC today and noticed that yiffit, my homepage, won't log me in and just keeps giving this red banner popup in the left corner that says "error incorrect_login."
I know it's not my login/password combo; I am able to use Jerboa and Firefox on my phone to log in and do stuff (that's how I am writing this post!) but on my computer it won't let me in! Cleared the history, cache, saved info, etc and it just keeps giving me this damn error even when I try to open the login page to make sure it's trying the right info.
The main page itself just gives me the standard "server issue" error that I assume is Lemmy's default error page when it can't reach the server. But again, I am only getting this problem on my PC; my other devices allow me to browse and post just fine, so I have no idea what the heck is going on here. Is it my end or the server?
Would you consider making a sandwich to be "cooking?"
Personally, I don't* but I was curious what others think.
*some sandwiches excluded like a Cubano or chicken parm; those do require cooking.
I feel like I am getting WEAKER the further I go; how do I actually get stronger?
I'm half-way through Sedna right now. I have just 1 Warframe (though I did start building Limbo last night when I remembered I did that quest) and it, a long with my best weapons, are maxed out and either at mod capacity or damn near (still need endo for a few). MR5.
I have a railjack, I unlocked the Operator, and I have so many resources and credits. But everything is starting to take forever to kill and hurts me so much. When I did the whole Drifter quest thing, I choose everything I already used but it was so much stronger. The Warframe had way more shield and health even though I have Redirection and Vitality maxed out on it. The Boltor had a super high ROF compared to what mine has and did way more damage.
How the hell do I get that kind of power on my normal stuff? I know about Forma but I haven't even seen some of the mods for the weapons I have I've seen suggested for maximum damage, so I'm just hanging onto those until it makes sense to use them. Is that really the only way to get stronger?
Top level comments sometimes end up as a reply to another random comment
I'm not sure if this is a Lemmy issue, an instance issue or a Jerboa issue but occasionally when I hit the button to reply specifically to the main post and make a top-level comment, it instead replies to one of the already existing top level comments.
I don't know how long this has been happening; I only just now noticed it wasn't me accidentally clicking the wrong reply button when it happened twice in a row and I was making absolute sure I hit the right button the second time.
Someone should bring back Hollywood Squares but with internet people.
Dropout, please. I could be the center square.
S Ranking in Armored Core 6 - Does anyone play? Help.
I have 1 last achievement to get and it didn't seem like it would be that hard since I already got S rank without even trying on all the high payout missions when I was grinding cash for all the parts.
However, a few seem to be completely arbitrary and not simply about speed and efficiency. Or maybe I am just not fast enough? I have to actually use a stop watch because the game doesn't actually tell you the mission time...
Anyway I have literally 2 left that I can't get above A rank on and I don't know why.
First is Stop The Data Breach. I zip through the level as fast as I can destroying the hacking nodes, and even take out the tetrapod in the hallway while waiting for the dialogue to continue and give me access to the last door leading to Iguazu. I know from watching a video of someone getting S rank that the damage and ammo costs I end up with are good (even lower) so it's gotta be the time it takes to do the final fight. But that dumbass Iguazu heals like 4 times every time he's down to nothing which makes it take way longer than it should. I can kill him faster but that would cost more in the ammo cost, assuming it even hits because the weapons that would allow near instant death are also super slow and he constantly dodged all over the place.
The other is Destroy the Refuelling base. I've zipped straight to the main objective and killed the ACs at the end in under 2 minutes and got A rank. I've gone and blown up all the fuel dumps then the main objective and killed the ACs in just a few seconds more; still A. The fuck does it expect me to do? Finish in 30 seconds? I can use the fastest possible mech build and it still takes like a minute just to reach the objective going in as straight a line to it as you can.
The lack of clear objectives listed for these arbitrary requirements is driving me crazy. I've looked for answers online, of course, but every answer is different. Some people got S rank doing this, others got it doing something else. Neither method worked for me, so it just feels like random.
Why does Frame Generation say I am getting 60fps but it doesn't look or feel like it?
Playing Ghost of Tsushima and just trying to get the best settings for my machine and was suggested to use high preset with resolution scaling off and frame Gen on.
It certainly makes the FPS counter say it's 60fps now when it would constantly dip to 40, but it doesn't feel or look smooth at all. I can get 60fps without frame Gen in much of the game, and turning it off in those areas looks smoother and feels nicer.
I've never used frame generation in anything else before so I don't know if this is normal or what's going on. Would it feel better if I uncapped the frame rate and turned off vsync?
Wishing on a shooting star
What if wishing on a shooting star actually grants wishes and the only reason it's commonly believed to be superstition is because nobody has actually seen a shooting star we've only seen crashing rocks? đ¤
Could an animal be taught how to throw accurately?
Just thinking about how I've read that humans are the only animals on the planet that can throw objects with a degree of accuracy. But could a dog or other animal be taught, and trained to throw things to hit a target? I mean, it's not like a human can throw well without guidance and practice, either.
