[Survey] Can you tell which images are AI generated?
  • 12/20, I got all the photos and line art correct. The paintings and digital art were much harder to tell. Human artists aren't perfect so the usual tells don't really apply. I think I only nailed the line art because I've done a lot of line art myself.

  • what phone(s) do you use and what's the default web browser on them?
  • I use both Firefox and Brave. I'm not sure if that makes me an asshole or not.

  • Second Republican primary debate had the lowest TV viewership since 2015
  • Holy shit some of those are comedy gold! These assholes are on the same team which makes it even more funny!

  • This is awesome if it tracks well!

  • Sync for Lemmy constant crashing
  • Same thing since updating from the play store today. Had to fall back to Liftoff. Sync is unusable now.

Update: If a post does not have any comments it opens ok. But if there is even one comment then it crashes.

  • Group of up to 50 people shoplift about $100K worth of luxury items from L.A. mall; used bear spray against guards
  • They don't matter on an individual level. They do matter for keeping relevant content at the top.

  • Which proprietary software do you prefer over their open-source alternatives, and why?
  • As much as I dislike Adobe, Photoshop is something I can't get away from.

  • Which proprietary software do you prefer over their open-source alternatives, and why?
  • Second Sync for Lemmy. I don't care if people hate on me for using it. It's (currently) far superior.

  • They don't know
  • Yep, it's on the play store.

  • Please do not downvote people you disagree with if they're contributing to the conversation.

  • boondocking relocation: hot weather reprovisioning, water stumble, etc
  • Man I could really use some pants weather! I forget what that even feels like.

  • High power alternator
  • Also keep in mind that sitting idle with the engine running to charge off the alternator adds more wear to the engine and is also less efficient than running a generator which is designed for the task.

An engine just sitting idle isn't going to distribute oil to all it's parts well. It's also got no air flowing around it aside from what the fan provides so things are going to get hot!

  • Wolfenstein 3D Dev Team Interview (News Segment) (1992)
  • Kind of sad Carmack barely got one second of screen time and his name not even mentioned. The genius behind the whole damn thing!

  • I actually didn't like Liftoff on initial release but it has been developed so fast it's now my daily driver. I'm bouncing between four or five apps and the development of all of them has been incredible! These are exciting times!

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • I personally would hate that but you make a good point with getting people to return. I think as long as it's painless too to disable the feature it's not a bad idea. Maybe a weekly digest could be emailed instead but that's probably more complicated than you want to deal with.

  • Can we get, please, a way to open YouTube links in NewPipe?
  • RIF was able to do this without a fuss. I don't see why it'd be any harder for a lemmy app.

  • VanLife in an RV?
  • Thank you very much for your response. That other community looks suitable as well!

And yeah I would gladly do a deal like that with Wally World. I dream of BLM land but for now I'm in the South East where that's not a thing. I'll be heading north soon, fuck this heat!

  • What video game have you played the most, that you think is garbage and no one else should ever play?
  • Well Meta made it free to play so no harm in trying. They did cause a rush of children to join so the community isn't what it used to be. I suspect it'll eventually go the way of Echo VR.

  • VanLife in an RV?

I've never been one to try to fit under a title but it is hard to explain my situation sometimes.

I live full time in an RV. But I don't fit in with the RV crowd. RV folks mostly camp out at a park plugged into electricity and sewer for a couple of weeks before going back to the suburbs. At most they hop from one park to another.

I live the vanlife lifestyle but in an RV. I've never plugged into shore power or been to an RV park. I live off lithium batteries a generator and solar power. Many of my nights are spent on the side of a road or a Cracker Barrel parking lot.

Most of what I know about this lifestyle I learned from /r/VanLife

Now that reddit is gone and we're all on this wonderful new lemmy I'm wondering where I fit in. Does this community welcome people like me or should I wait for the old farts to figure out how to create /c/RVlife?

  • Self-Checkout Machines asking for a Tip

www.businessinsider.com Customers are being asked to tip even at self check-out. Some say it's 'emotional blackmail.'

As self-checkout kiosks are incorporating the option to include tips, customers question where the money is going.

    This is a fucking insult

    Scrolling with joystick is janky

I know this is low priority but scrolling any list in this app using a gamepad joystick is pretty bad. The list will snap to the top/bottom and otherwise spaz out. I'm using the app in VR which is why this matters to some people.
